WASHINGTON — President Trump threatened on Wednesday to use the federal government’s power to license television airwaves to target NBC in response to a report by the network’s news division that he contemplated a dramatic increase in the nation’s nuclear arsenal.

In a story aired and posted online Wednesday morning, NBC reported that Mr. Trump said during a meeting in July that he wanted what amounted to a nearly tenfold increase in the nation’s nuclear weapons stockpile, stunning some members of his national security team. It was after this meeting that Secretary of State Rex W. Tillerson reportedly said Mr. Trump was a “moron.”

Mr. Trump objected to the report in two messages on Twitter later Wednesday and threatened to use the authority of the federal government to retaliate.

He repeated his complaint later in the day, when reporters arrived in the Oval Office to cover his meeting with the Canadian prime minister, Justin Trudeau. “It’s frankly disgusting the way the press is able to write whatever they want to write and people should look into it,” Mr. Trump said.

Asked if he favored limits on what the media can say, he answered, “No. The press should speak more honestly.”

So, Trump is kind of opening another can of worms with this kind of rhetoric. He says he isn't for limiting what the media says, but also complains that the media is able to write whatever they want. Philosophically he may have a point, but it's unusual for a sitting President to get into this kind of stuff.

If this goes anywhere all the complaints of totalitarianism being the goal and desire of the Trump family will be proved true. I don't think that's an exaggeration. I also don't think it's any more likely than Trump bombing North Korea, so we'll have to wait and see I guess.

Trump makes up more shit than the Media that he calls Fake News does. I'm willing to bet I can find Trump telling a lie for any lie you can find from either CNN or NBC.

I was actually referring to the other Miss America contestant who was sued for 5 million dollars or something like that because she said she thought the contest was rigged

Personally, I'd like to see more media accountability on both sides.

I would like to see a regulation that makes newspapers print retractions the way they printed the original article, rather than burying the retraction in the back, in tiny print. If the story was on the front page in giant font, the retraction should be equal in nature.
