top fighters in Bellator are just as good as their UFC counterpat

Agree 100%. UFC fans have been brainwashed into thinking that the UFC is the only league that matters in the sport, to the point that most people think the UFC is MMA.

However the truth is that other orgs are not light years behind the UFC, they're on the same level, maybe not in total talent pool, but the top end has great fighters that could easily be contenders or even champs in the UFC given the chance.

I said this in those Rory threads, everyone is expecting Rory to steamroll through Bellator and become champ in no time, I doubt that this is going to happen. He can certainly become champ, but its not going to be a steamroll. This is the same thing we all thought when Mirko went to the UFC, I've learned my lesson since then. Strikeforce moving into the UFC and having their former fighters take names in the UFC just further cements this truth.

Lots of MMA fans have this mentality, largely due to the deep connection between MMA and pro wrestling. Pro wrestling fans were huge on the promotion vs promotion thing, always bashing other promotions and being die hard fans of their favored one. In MMA it is the same way. You never see boxing fans think that fighters in a certain promotion are inherently better than other ones.

Important to note though that it was the opposite for Pride. People thought at first that Pride fighters would steamroll through the UFC -- the exact same way people think UFC fighters today will steam roll through Bellator.

As we all know, they didn't -- and for the latter, they won't.
There were fans on both sides of the argument for the Pride acquisition. It was quite the forum war. But you are correct, Pride guys had a lot of fans that believed in them compared to Strikeforce and now Bellator.

Every division in the ufc is top heavy also. Every division has a handful of guys who are good and the rest are just guys taking up space that will never do anything of significance.
Except that's not true at all. LHW and HW is top heavy, MW, WW, LW is not.

Love Benson but he does not look like a top fighter anymore based on his last bunch of fights

What? Pride guys came in, and within 2 fights, took every belt the ufc had (in weight classes the ufc and Pride shared)

Or, the more obvious answer, Bellator guys are better than you thought they were.

Besides the UFC being 20X deeper talent-wise, Let's match-up all the champs and see who would win. MAYBE Chandler would beat Alvarez again, but beyond that? Be real, it's a fucking clean sweep for the UFC. Get outta here
Straus could beat Conor, especially after seeing how Conor fades in the later rounds.

Bellator talent is not as deep but their top 3 in LW, FW, WW measures up with top 3 in the UFC

Benson Henderson getting absolutely cucked 2 fights in a row in bellator hopefully open up some eyes

Bendo didn't look good, but it's also possible that he doesn't have the passion for it that he once had.

Could you expound upon this counterpat you speak of?....

On a more serious note, MVP is the only guy in Bellator currently that stands a chance at making a title run in the UFC.

"Bellator is legit" -Dana White 2017 after we get a couple ex-Bellator guys holding belts
