Top 5 WW all time-

What kind of nerd would put Condit at 3 or even 4 when he didn't become champ, lost to Shields, Hendricks, and Woodley, and whose career is simply inferior to Lawler and Shields.

GSP
Hughes
Then fuck knows, I guess Shields. Then Robbie, Condit and Hendricks. I've always felt Fitch's run was overrated.

Mach, Miletich and Newton were great pioneers but I don't rate any of them top 5.

Condit has 30 total WW wins, 6 of which are top 10 victories.

Lawler barely has 6 WW total wins.

Gsp
Hughes
Lawler
Shields
Hendricks

Honorable mention:Condit, Fitch, Militech

1. GSP
2. Matt Hughes
3. Jake Shields
4. Carlos Condit
5. Robbie Lawler

Needs shields. Robbie has a great little run going, but shields did it for years.

Who cares about number of wins. Lawler's UFC career trumps Condit's easily. Rory twice, Hendricks, Condit, Brown, Kos, and Ellenberger. That by itself is enough, but his MW career has to count for something. Maybe if Condit challenges in future and wins, that would settle this dispute, but Lawler's output is too superior to make the case right now. Condit's loss to Kampmann back in day also raises questions.

Lol Penn is not even worthy of an honorable mention on this list and some people have him in the top 5, hell I would even say Penn is not even top 5 LW goat.
Matt Serra has a better argument for top 5 WW over Penn.

List is great.

One person I can see making a dent given a good run would be Woodley.

it's one of the easier divisions to rank "all time" because Hughes and GSP ruled for so long and Pride never had a 170 division, leaving little to debate.

big Penn fan but his legacy is his LW fights/titles and for having captured UFC titles in 2 different divisions which does include WW but his welterweight overall performance is 2-5 (both wins were against the same opponent in Hughes)--meaning he's lost almost all of his WW fights; he took a lot of damage in the Fitch draw.

1. GSP
2. Hughes
3. Condit
4. Lawler
5. Militech? Militech took 3 losses outside the company during his UFC title reign so even though he kept his UFC title for a "long" time, he was losing elsewhere while able to keep the belt.

Have to put Condit over Lawler. Condit has deeper WW accomplishments: he's some 30 wins-9 losses at WW; WEC WW champion; UFC interim WW champion ; went 5 rounds with GSP.

When it comes to personal greats listings, no answer will ever be "suitable" for most people. Its remotely pointless to argue and you wont be able to have a decent conversation about before it spirals into repetitive angry chimping sounds behind a keyboard.

Depends if you're going off Legacy, In the Cage Skills, or Talent relative to their time period.

If it's the second then Matt Hughes, Militech, and Newton aren't even Honorable mentions.

What? Matt Hughes had something like 7 title defenses and finished his career 45-9, many of those 9 losses toward the tail end of his career. Prime Hughes is a solid match for anyone at Welter today and in terms of legacy he may crest the top 10 for all time GOATS. You are horribly mistaken characterizing Matt Hughes as not even an honorable mention.

Matt Hughes and Carlos Newton were very skilled. One dimensional and unskilled are not the same thing. In fact, Hughes was more multi-skilled than I'm even giving him credit for. Fantastic wrestling, solid submission skills, and for a brief, glorious moment in his career, he was K-1 Hughes

No doubt, Hughes finished 35 fighters. (17 KO and 18 Subs) Hughes finished more guys than most fighters have in total fights.

.. hell I would even say Penn is not even top 5 LW goat.

Penn has a strong aka exaggerating fanbase and his dabbling at 155, 170, 185 (beat Renzo and Rodrigo Gracie) and openweight (versus Lyoto) divisions gave him a lot of losses along the way but the fact is Penn is 11-3-1 at LW. The 3 losses were decisions to Edgar and prime Pulver. He won 4 title fights until losing to Edgar. His LW wins were quality opponents during the respective times he beat them: Din Thomas, Uno, Gomi, Ludwig onto the Sherk, Stevenson, Florian era.

but yes, he's done very little at WW and probably not even worthy of a #10 spot (which I brought up in a previous post in this thread)
