and bump that weak ass shit "the conjuring", come the fuck on.

Some of my favorite "horror films" usually incorpate other genres into them

In no order:

Alien
The Exorcist
Jacobs Ladder
Possession
Jaws
The Thing
Hellraiser
Rosemary's baby
Omen
Prince of Darkness

Get Out
The Autopsy of Jane Doe
Cell
The Forest
Don't Breathe
The Boy
Cabin Fever
The Neon Demon
Unfriended
Annabelle
Is this a genuine list? Wondering because some of those movies weren't even slightly scary.

The Neon Demon is just a bunch of cunts doing cunt stuff and then killing a cunt they envy.

Would take me days to really finalize my list...quick and dirty though( a lot of these choices and order would change in a final version)

1.Alien
2.The Ring
3.Shutter(Thai version)
4.Martyrs
5.The Descent
6.Sinister
7.Blair Witch Project(cuz Fuk u thats why)
8.Silence of the Lambs
9.The Exorcist
10.???

In no order, and mind you I have a large backlog, so there are many films I have yet to see.

Halloween.
Friday the 13th.
The Exorcist.
The Texas Chain Saw Massacre.
Picnic at Hanging Rock.
Frailty.
Session 9.
The Prophecy.
Return of the Living Dead.

Outside of RotLD they all had some real personal impact on me, and RotLD is just one of the most re-watchable and tightly made films of all time.

I also love The 'Burbs, Ghostbusters, The Gate, Monster House, and Ernest Scared Stupid, but I don't think they really count.

There's a bunch just on the edge of being top ten that are a more eclectic offering:
Phantasm, Vampyr, Mothman Prophecies, Prince of Darkness, The Fog, the original The Woman in Black, the original Don't Be Afraid of the Dark, Cure, Salem's Lot, Noroi, City of the Living Dead, Hide and Go Kill 2, Inferno, Carnival of Souls, Incubus, Kill Baby Kill, Inland Empire, Night of the Demons, Hell Night, Alone in the Dark, The Evil Dead, The Wailing, Near Dark, etc.

Does Cabin in the Woods count?

The Horror genre is so played out these days the only way to make it passable and not seem like a string of ridiculous cliches is to spoof it.

For a Western effort, the Conjuring and Insidious movies were pretty damn good. I expected them to be horrible and not atmospheric in the slightest but I was wrong.

Off the top of my head:

Deep red
Suspiria
Inferno
The shining
Jaws
Misery

...I can't come up with more now, I admit I haven't seen many classics though

Not a top 10, just several off the top of my head that are some of my favorites.

-The Descent
-The Thing
-Jeepers Creepers
-Insidious
-28 Days Later
-Halloween
-The Strangers

I don't rank horror movies on how much it scares me. Has to have a good story and decent acting.

Haven't seen these mentioned yet...

Final Destination
The Terminator (scared the piss out of me when I was little, and still convinced this will happen eventually)
