The UFC has dissolved its piracy department.

Why pay your own people when you can get the feds to do it on tax dollars?

Forgive me for asking a serious question, but does anyone have any idea of what this will mean for fair use on youtube ? For example, could analysts now use clips of film to illustrate points (ex. could BJJ Scout or Gracie Breakdown use short portions of film from UFC fights to break down techniques like they used to) ?

Probably WME-IMG knows more about the subject that those amateurs at UFC.

Don't celebrate just yet.

This...I wouldn't be surprised if they replaced it with something more effective from an anti-piracy standpoint

Look forward to the inevitable kodi app.

Obviously they're dissolving it to introduce their own piracy department, ya eedjits.

really?

what a waste of fucking money anyway. just bring great products at great price and people won't resort to it. and people that resort isn't going to stop it regardless of price and quality
and there's the fact that there's ALWAYS going to be streams out there to watch from (and good quality streams, I might say)

How much does it cost to hire people whose apparent profession is to search for any UFC video or even a gif and threaten to sue the website owners?

they are ready to announce their new partnership with NSA.

Dana's replacement...

Was chasing shadows anyway, waste of time/money
