So Hurricane Irma put a damper on my week and I totally forgot that the new season premiered this week. I'm about to watch the new episode and saw no thread on the new season (hopefully I searched correctly) so here it is. I'm hoping for less SJW/current shit and more original/adventurous episodes.....fingers crossed

What was the SJW bullshit?

I don't mean that literally, I just wanted less of last season and the first episode is already about white supremacists waving Confederate flags...I was expecting a statue of Robert E. Lee or something to show up at any moment. I would really like for them to return to what made this show good (my opinion of course). I have no idea what they have done with Cartman in particular. I loved stuff like imaginationland, Critter Christmas, Trapped in the Closet, Make Love, not Warcraft, Informative Murder Porn etc. This whole new political angle in every episode is what I refer to SJW shit haha. I get my fill of politics from everywhere else, I just wish the small number of shows that I watch (like south park) would cut back on the politics, that's my main point

Awful. They need to ditch the politics. It felt like they needed to cram too many things into one episode in order to have something funny going on and poke fun at enough political talking points that they wouldn't offend any one group.

And the things they did poke fun at seemed pretty gutless.

I read they were going to ditch politiics and go back to fart jokes. They really need to do that.

it was a mediocre episode and they didn't do much with the social commentary on Charlottesville.

to me it just seems they did the same thing they did last season but more tame it was actually not offensive or edgy considering the material they had to work with in Charlottesville and their crusade against political correctness.

I disagree. The only continuation form last season is Heidi and Cartman.

I don't consider being offensive or edgy anything to do with something being funny. It was goofy-dumb-genius, like classic southpark. Didn't get all preachy like last season.

I agree this line. but it seems hypocritical of them to get tame and more PC when they made an entire season complaining about PC.

I think episodes like imagination land shows the best creativity and originality from southpark when they talk about politics it is less funny and creative than an imaginationland style episode.

I've been watching SP since I was in JH and they always did "political" stuff.

I remember them making fun of smoking bans 15 years ago....

It would seem odd to me if they didn't talk about this stuff at some point this season considering how much it's in the news.

And the way they did this is completely in line with the bug gay pile to KEEP ER JERBS!!

If politics are quite SP is quite but when an issue is hot they go after it.

I wouldn't call the episode PC either. I find your line of thinking on this episode interesting but strange.

I don't think they take these ideas as seriously as you think. I like south park because the main point of the show is that it is fun. What I mean is that I don't think Trey and Matt are sitting down saying "we need to make sure to be extra non-PC this episode because we need to make it fit with what we did last season". I think the main goal is to make a good episode, and they did. IMO.

That is true, but it has never been every episode every time, like last season.

for every medicinal fried chicken episode, there is a Pine Wood Derby Episode, or Coon and friends, or ass burgers.

south park is hardly as political as it gets credit for. It is just that when they do go political they nail it

Lol how are they PC?
they where pretty pc in this episode relative to last season it wasn't 100 %PC but it was less offensive than something they would have done last season they could have done something more with the Charlottesville issue and didn't really say much
