ok that's pretty wild. I had no idea they were this far along. The last I heard the avatars still looked like cartoons. Starting to get why Zuckerberg keeps sinking tons of money into it.
I looks close to realistic, but I can still tell it's fake. There is certain nuances/subtleties that are hard to replicate I suppose. But it looks better than most of I've seen.

That's pretty cool. There's a lot of uncanny valley happening here, especially with these two androids, but it's already far more impressive than it was just two years ago.
The price and cumbersome nature of the headsets are massive barriers to entry, but as that eventually gets worked out to what amounts to a pair of inexpensive super light glasses, just imagine what the fidelity will be like.
The porn and virtual companion applications, coupled with AI, will be a huge industry. I don't know how they'll do it, but touch and smell sensations are inevitable too.
