Seattle Mosque burns, already opportunists are peddling Islamophobia

I'd bet $$$ it was a Muslim that burned the place down.

How can someone be batshit insane but also not be a danger. Your two paragraphs contradict each other

Also Reagan single handily closed down hospitals across the country doing away with Carters community health legislation that was passed with overwhelming support.

Becuase you have to prove in court they are a danger.

And as usual you come with the same liberal shit syaing its all Reagans fault, who's advive did he and other politicians act on.

It's not nearly as simple as " it's Reagans fault" there was a push by Jimmy Carter for letting people out.

It has nothing to do with letting people out. The point is allowing people to have services available to them whether they're in or out of a hospital.

You don't need to be in a hospital to get mental help and at the same time seeing some cost saving going along with it.

Perhaps you need to do more reading on it.

You can not force people into treatment in or out.

How many people with mental problems have you been around?

Very few believe they need help, they think they are fine.

Yes we could do a better job with mental health but you walk the line in what you can force people to do.

Meanwhile a near whole country of Yemenites are being starved to death by Saudi Arabia - the chair country of the UN's Human Rights Commission. The world corruption is becoming harder and harder to take.

Look at this freelance contributor on Huffpo ,not only is he laying it on thick about Islamophobia but he is claiming MidEastern Americans are living in fear. Such over the top exaggeration. He makes it sound like we are Iraq,Syria, Pakistan or Egypt where minorities really do have a lot to fear .

" While Seattle does have a reputation as a progressive, open-minded city, it is not immune to the wave of Islamophobia seen throughout much of the nation and the rest of the world in recent years. "

" Don’t let hate win. Join in solidarity marches. Visit a local mosque and get to know local leaders in the Muslim American community. Report hate crimes if you see them. Be an ally even in small ways on a regular basis. We also need to signal to law enforcement that they must take these threats seriously. Even in a city with as liberal a reputation as Seattle, people of Middle Eastern descent fear for their lives simply because of their appearance and religion. "

Don't let hate win huh ? Right then, this writer should be writing about how hatefull Islam is and all the persecution it is responsible for. Why do all these Islam apologists assume people who are critical of Islam have never met Muslims or know enough about Islam.

The police arrested a homeless man; the man has claimed in the past to be schizophrenic, and has had run-ins with the Mosque. Atleast the Mosque isn't jumpin to conclusions this is Islamophobia , for which they deserve credit. But the HuffPo freelance contributor can't help himself .

You can most certainly force someone to be in a hospital if doctors say they are a danger to themselves and others.

I had a family member who suffered their entire life with some form of mentors illness. She was even in a mental hospital for a long time because of it

The doctors cannot just say it they have to prove it to a court to hold them.

So they have to do something first to prove it.

One of the links shows what is required.

Well of course you can't just throw someone into a room and keep them there. i never said they could do that either.

The point was mental health services need to be made more readily available. Whether it's hospital care or out of hospital care. Closing down hospitals and getting rid of services does nothing for people with mental illness.

I do agree our mental health system needs much improvement.

Well you can witness this development across Europe since their refugee crisis.
When a refugee camp burns down, it's all over their national media and their FBI-counterparts start to investigate hate crimes etc
Sometimes even media in the UK or even the US report about burning refugee camps in France or Germany.
Then as soon as they find out that it was a refugee who intentionally burned it down, nobody cares anymore and it wasn't a hate crime.
If they don't find the fire-raiser, it still is included in statistics about right-wing violence. Similar development in the US. Whenever something happens which might look like it targeted a minority it's a hate crime by default. Until they find out that the attacker isn't a white male, then, of course, there's a change in their narrative.

Yea remember when those 2 Muslims were killed outside the mosque in NYC? Once it turned out that it wasn't a white right-winger, the media lost interest real fast.

Only in America are scitzo homeless allowed on the streets without any professional mental health.
Yeah, only in America. There are no mentally ill people in the streets anywhere else, besides, ya know, everywhere else.
