Saudi Arabia agress to buy Russian S-400

Saudi Arabia has agreed to purchase the Russian S-400 anti-aircraft system.
Turkey (NATO member) is also set to receive the S-400.
China is receiving delivery of the S-400.

Ya so they can shoot down all those advanced yemeni fighters lol.

Ya i get it, its for Iran but still seems like a waste to me. If saudi arabia wants to win a war by itself, they need to focus more on training and moral and drilling of their existing forces rather than more toys.

Probably also a bribe to Russia, to not help Iran and Assad as much. Saudi emulating Qatar maybe?

Qatar has been on a drunken spending spree as of late , buying fighters and other weapons , way more than they could possible field. It's Qatar bribing America and Western Europe , because right now they need allies, to fend off Saudi and Emiratis.

I am deeply skeptical the Saudis could competently field such an advanced anti-aircraft system. They can't even defeat the rag-tag Houthis, despite having the best weapons money can buy, UAE's help and foreign mercenaries. Not to mention US intel and logistical support.

Ya the Saudis cant field a good military because their political structure and the way the military is built and viewed won't allow it to be effective. Like you mentioned they have an advanced arsenal byt have to resort to siege tactics to starve out yemen.
