Besides the obvious eye poke problem people wanted the new gloves to solve, it seems like it is a decent upgrade. More knockouts, more finger protection which might help broken fingers. Seems like a decent upgrade. Brown made an interesting point how loose fighter's grip needs to be that most people skip over. Maybe with the Pride style gloves, there is more nuance than most think about parry's and whipping punches that usually gets ignored here. Maybe the solution is going to be more complicated than we think here.

Sounds to me like they are simply switching glove suppliers and saving some money…………you know, so that they can offer the fighters maybe a 60% off Venum coupon vs the standard 50% off. I know the fighters be stoked if that could happen

This looks pretty absurd - the huge gap from the knuckles to the top of the glove are going to cause a lot more eye pokes from the glove itself.

Pride solved this year's ago. They made the glove slightly cupped and with the new ufc gloves padding being softer there are gonna be more pokes.

It will be interesting to see statistics for eye pokes, broken fingers, KO's... after these have been in use for a year compared to the previous year.

Like someone mentioned above, probably switching providers or simply a money driven change to make them cheaper in the long run, they brag about how "advanced" they are, while in reality a softer/lighter glove simply means less materials = cheaper to mass produce, it doesnt address issues with the current glove imo, which is mostly one, eye pokes.

And this eye pokes are defining fights... Main events got shamefully ended by that. Joke.
