Question for the Public

were they Latin American or some other equatorial ethnicity? I'm not trying to make an ethnic dig here, I'm being serious. Many Latin Americans readily admit that that is just a part of how they communicate in certain situations when they are parting company or bidding farewell. By contrast, (according to certain ethnic studies) you would tend not to find people native to more northernish climes to make faux promises like that. This is not a mark of denigration at all, it is just a cultural thing.

I don't think this is unique to any ethnicity.

Meeting up with a casual acquaintance after a while and saying as you part, "Hey we should hang out sometime..." but then never actually hanging out because neither party made the effort, and it's just a thing you say to be sociable, happens all the time.
