They're obviously lying. Even when caught red handed, people will try to come up with an excuse that makes them sound like less of a creep than "Im a grown man that is into kids".

Remember that show, To Catch a Predator? Every one of those motherfuckers came up with some sort of excuse, even after they were confronted with transcripts of them asking for sex and sending dick pics to who they thought was a 12 year old.

Downloaded and disseminated. Even if I were to agree that downloading child porn should carry a light sentence (and I don't), if those children manage to escape the hell they've experienced and grow up into functioning adults they're still going to be walking around wondering who recognizes them because this guy spread photos of them getting raped.

Should it be illegal to post a video of a kid who gets assaulted by a bully, because it will cause the kid further embarrassment? I don't think bringing shame on a victim is a good enough reason to limit the first amendment here.

I think it is important to restrict the dissemination of child porn because its creates a market for child porn. But he isn't directly harming the kids himself, so I don't think he should be behind bars for a decade or anything like that. A couple years and registering as a sex offender seems fair to me.

A kid being bullied is entirely different than what we're talking about. What are the laws regarding spreading videos of a criminal rape? I know it's becoming illegal in many places to disseminate revenge porn.

I don't think the first amendment grants you the right to spread videos of the criminal violation of anyone. I am surprised you would suggest that is a thing. Where would you draw the line?
