Ankalaev the type of guy to kickbox Thiago Santos and grapple Paul Craig.

He beat Santos, though.
And he was dominating Craig on the ground until the sub.

I don't get some people's take on him.

His fight IQ is not great, but not bad at all.

He came undefeated in UFC, lost to Craig, after dominating him for 3 rounds. Craig being very good at submissions.

Won 9 fights in a row. 9! No split decision, no controversy. 5 finishes.

Draw with Jan. Media scoring and fan scoring have Ank winning this fight. Yes, it was pretty stupid of him not to wrestle earlier, but who knows his reasons, maybe cardio was an issue.

Beat Walker pretty easily.

13 fights in UFC and he didn't seem vulnerable in these fights. Sure, he lost to Craig, but anyone can lose in that fashion.

No canceled fights, because of him.
No ducking.
He is not the type of fighter to fight twice every three years.
Good on the ground, good striking, seems to have a good chin and a good defense.

I get it, he is Russian and no charisma, no ablo ingles.
