Pharma Exec: “Moral Requirement” to Charge as Much as Possible for Drugs

Define socialist nation. Denmark produces a shitload of medical patents.
That is "Nordic Capitalism" or "Nordic Social Democracy". The glossary debate is already over. My opposition's cheerleaders, who were content to "like" his posts while it was underway, are now crying about derails after it didn't go the way they liked.

I'm really tired of "capitalism" being deliberately conflated in name with unchecked laissez-faire economics, and when you punch back by doing the same to "democratic socialists", they lose their minds, which makes it even easier to steer them into dead ends constructed of their own myopic biases.

It was a simple question. Chiiiiilllll Winston.

It was a simple question. Chiiiiilllll Winston.
It was answered. No, that's not "socialism". I'm tired of capitalism being presented as the cure to an alternative form of capitalism under the label of "socialism".

I'm not the one lacking the education to discern the difference, but apparently many are-- most acutely millennials. This is why I freaked out when I discovered Bernie had voiced admiration for real Latin American socialists like Chavez, and that model. Initially, I interpreted him as someone who simply wanted to entertain these European ideas that emphasize deeper socialization, which was why I preferred him to Hillary early in the campaign:
Only problem with this is that you have mislabeled Bernie. He's a social Democrat.
What a fool I was for believing that is what he intended, but was only using branding to distance himself from the establishment of his peers in order to convey that he wanted far more robust measures similar to what some of your European countries employ. Wiki summarizes the clearest picture that emerged quite succinctly:

The terms "democratic socialism" and "social democracy" have significant overlap[11][12] and during the late 20th century those labels started to be both embraced, contested and rejected due to the emergence of developments within the world´s left such as eurocommunism, the fall of eastern communist governments, the Third Way, the Latin American Pink tide, and the rise of anti-austerity movements in the late 2000s and early 2010s motivated by the Great Recession. This last development contributed to the emergence of politicans such as Jeremy Corbyn in the UK and Bernie Sanders in the US[13] who assumed the label democratic socialist to describe their rebellion against "Third way" and centrist politicians within the UK Labour and US Democratic parties respectively.
"Third Way" thinking is invoked by reference to "Social Capitalism", including "Social Democracy", or "social market economists", describing the Nordic models, which stand in contrast to Classic Liberalism. It's a greater hybridization, but it is still a capitalist rubric. Originally, I interpreted Bernie to be embracing this alternative, but needing a more distinctive term to distance himself from Hillary, because the Democratic party had been drifting towards these alternatives for a while, but it eventually became clear that the man just wants outright socialism. He's an idiot, and I was an idiot for believing otherwise.

Take it easy man.. I don´t know what discussions you had with other posters or what the beef was. And quite frankly I don´t give a flying fuck. I merely asked what you define as socialist countries. No need for a wall of text.

I would agree with this if lobbyists didn't exist.

You ever see a pharmaceutical company exist without either board members in Congress or huge contributions?

You're a text book capitalist.
I don't mean that as a bad thing.
I mean it as text book example of what capitalism should be.

Remember when obama promised to end lobbyists? It was one of his main running promises in 2008.

And then 8 years later and he didn't?

Anyways i agree. Thats a thing that is breaking capitalism and competition in the marketplace.

And nobody wants to fix it.

Yea Big Pharma is a heartless, greedy and quite frankly evil industry that values profits much higher than people's well being, and it's also an extremely powerful and influential lobby. You could really say that about the whole medical industrial complex in general. I just hope people take that into consideration when reflecting on the "trans kid" phenomenon that seemed to come out of nowhere a few years ago but gained such a foothold in media, public school systems and even government policy. Surely you can see who profits the most off of turning confused children into lifetime patients who will need hormone treatments for life as well as expensive surgeries. But I notice that a lot of lefties, especially the "resist capitalism" types, have a major blind spot to this as it's been presented to them as a civil rights movement and "right side of history" type deal.

Greed!
Causing innocent blood to flow
Entire culture, lost in the overthrow
They came to seize and take whatever they please
Then all they gave back was death and disease
My people were left with no choice but to decide
To conform to a system, responsible for genocide
Responsible for genocide
Responsible for genocide

AIDS is killing the entire African nation
And a vaccine is still supposedly under preparation
But these governments, they don't mind their procrastination
They say, "We'll kill them off, take their land and go there for vacation."

My people's culture was strong
It was pure and if not for that white greed
It would've endured
My people were left with no choice but to decide
To conform to a system
Their minds enslaved, their souls encaged
I feel the rage
It's brutality can never be undone
But the sun is not yet set
The bass and drums and microphones a threat
That's when ya investigate the crimes from the inside
And see that they're responsible for genocide
Responsible for genocide
Responsible for genocide

Ya cram ya culture down my throat
Say I'm inferior when I find it I choke
Ya fill my mind with a false sense of history
And then you wonder why I have no identity?
Well I'll strike a match and it'll catch and
Spread the insight we need
A tiny fire, burning bright
Shedding light on the darkness of greed

A yes yes y'all
And ya don't stop
Shedding light on the darkness of greed

A yes yes y'all
And ya don't stop
Shedding light on the darkness of greed

Yeah!

I shouldn't have to define these terms for you. This attitude is why we have a generation of ignorant "socialists" who are rebelling against capitalism by pointing to our allied (subsidized) capitalist models.

Jesus fucking christ man. Take a fucking pill. It was a simple question to a post you fucking made. Didn´t think it would sand up your vagina so hard. It´s not like americans are known for their crystal clear definition of a socialist country.

Yeah, wiki quotes are lazy.

Says the dude that wrote out or copy pasted a rage against the machine song.

Yeah ctrl+c and ctrl+v definently needs some ADD to work. Shouldn´t you be fashioning a new tin foil hat for that Hillary treason trial?

That's precisely the point, but I've noticed Europeans and Commonwealthers aren't proving too enlightened about this themselves, these days.
Yeah, wiki quotes are lazy.
Sure, but I'm rarely asked to use more words. Ironically, Wikiquotes itself offers a wonderful example of why this was made so confusing, or perhaps just a stellar example of why Bernie himself and his followers seem so deeply confused:
Wikiquotes said:
"We have a president right now who doesn't consider himself a socialist but people call him a socialist as an insult. Are you concerned at all about framing yourself as this?" ...

"Not if we have the opportunity to describe what democratic socialism means. ... You have countries like Denmark, Sweden, Norway ... which have had social democratic governments. ... In those countries, healthcare is a right for all people. ... Tuition is free. ... In those countries, governments are working for the middle class, rather than the billionaire class."
Weird that he wasn't talking about Venezuela, Nicaragua (under Ortega), or even Bolivia, right? My Wikiquote reaction can be summarized:
"There's an old saying in Tennessee - I know it's in Texas, probably in Tennessee - that says, fool me once, shame on - shame on you. Fool me - you can't get fooled again."

Whatever turdnugget. If you don´t want to answer the question and just go on tirades, by all means, do go on. You could just have answered the question and I would most likely have agreed with you.

But for some reason you always need to go on mile long rants to explain how you are so smart and everyone else is dumb. It´s really fucking funny.

Sorry, didn't realize that was a Prutfis original.
