So, I'm trying to decide whether or not I should have different sized gloves for padwork? Right now I have 16 oz gloves for pads and bagwork, and then 16's for sparring. Should I have lighter gloves for padwork, or does it not really make a difference?

Borrow some good lighter gloves off someone to do pads with and see how you like it. Most prefer lighter gloves for pads, 10 or 12 etc. But it's all personal preference.

If I'm hitting Thai pads I like 16oz, but smaller focus mitts I enjoy using 12oz, or sometimes thumb less bag gloves or mma style if I trust the holder.

10-12 for pad work for this guy.

8-12oz seems to be the standard for boxers.

I usually use 10oz pro fight gloves (my 3 year old Winning MS300 still going strong), but lately I like warming up on the bag/mitts with 16oz for a couple rounds, then suddenly switching to the Winning SB3000 4oz "light bag gloves" (or whatever they are called) for the rest of the mitts session.

Really makes you feel you got faster all of a sudden, but that's probably all it is; just a feeling lol.
