Out of the 4 GOATS, is Fedor the only one who deliberately engaged his opponents at their strengths?

that's jones' MO to a tee. stood with machida, grappled with glover, stood with gustafsson, grappled with cormier.

Of the GOAT 7 (Fedor, Anderson, George's, Jones, Khabib, Demetrius, n Jose) Fedor was the most fearless , Fedor and Khabib felt the most invincible , but noone has anywhere near Bones resume an still undefeated an noone ever will again.

That back-of-the-head'er was scary.

Fedor's face hit and turns toward the camera ... and the punch lands flush from behind.

It is still scary to watch.

No one has used eye-pokes in fights aswell.

I think you have fan goggles on... Fedor didn't try to kickbox Mirco or tap out Nog... he Tapped Hunt... He tapped Sylvia... thats their weakness not strength... which fight do you believe he intentionally fought to his opponents strength?

Yeah Fedor probably does it the most, but Jones in his prime at LHW often did it too like you suggested

Jones struck with Gus a lot who has a strong boxing background
Out-striked Shogun who has a background in Muay Thai/boxing
Wrestled with Olympic Wrestler DC
Submitted BBJ black belt specialist Vitor Belfort etc
Ripped Glover apart on the inside too, when people said that was his ticket to beat Jon

I think I’d leave the Sylvia fight out of that. Fedor absolutely lit Sylvia up standing, he only grabbed the RNC because he broke his hand and didn’t want to GnP with it.

Jon Jones definitely did against Shogun and Santos by striking with them. He also wanted to prove that he could outgrapple Sonnen, I reckon he was taking him down, letting him get up so he could take him down again. From memory it went for a few minutes and I'm pretty sure Jones got 3 takedowns.

Stood with CroCop, grappled with Werdum. And that is just 2 examples from a career full of them.
Spent just over half of the 1st round grappling crocop, just under half of the 2nd round, and 4 minutes of the 5 minute 3rd round

I'm a huge Fedor fan but you are living in lore land not reality. He struck into takedowns sometimes the guys went down he never fought to his opponents strengths.. to be honest, if he did I'd have less respect for him.

How stupid would someone have to be to routinely fight people where their strengths lie?
Ever heard of the Art of War?
Do you not believe in using one's brain when fighting?
Whatever.....

I mean the RNC was right there. Once timmeh is on the ground he is too clumsy and slow to avoid submissions

Wow you got all that from my comment about the Sylvia fight? That I live in “lore land and not reality”?
<{vega}>

(also I don’t think “lore land” is actually an expression. maybe you were going for la-la land?)

Sorry I thought you were the OP. I meant lore land. Where you believe all the stories instead of actually watching and understanding

Yes, absolutely it makes Fedor more impressive than the others.

GSP, Andy, Jones won fights in their own element for the most part.

Fedor was something else though. I don't think he jumped into Nog's guard or kickboxed CroCop out of ego though. He was just confident enough that he could win wherever the fight went down.

Out of everyone, all I know is Jones is only guy in the GOAT conversation that has ever came out and said he wanted to beat guys at their strength.

With Fedor it seem as time went by it became more obvious Fedor never had much of a game plan from the start. I don't think he ever once thought this guy is a great kick boxer and I'm going to teach him lesson by beating him using kickboxing.
