New Firmware out

We've updated the device software of the DualSense and DualSense Edge wireless controllers to improve their sound features.
  • Controller speaker enhancements. The controller speakers can now produce higher volume sound, allowing you to hear in-game sounds and voice chat audio more clearly.
  • Improved noise cancellation. The mic input quality on these controllers has been improved, courtesy of a new AI machine learning model. Background noise from button presses and game audio are suppressed, resulting in a better voice chat experience. Install the system software beta and update the controller device software to enjoy enhanced clarity of your voice chat audio when using the controller mic.
  • With this update, you may feel that the sounds coming from your controller speaker may sound louder. You can adjust the controller speaker volume from the control center.
Players watching Share Screen in full screen mode can now use pointers and emoji reactions to interact with the host's gameplay.
  • Viewers can move a pointer around, send a ping or draw a line on the shared screen, allowing them to highlight certain objects or areas to guide the host player more accurately.
  • Viewers can send emoji-based reactions to the host's screen to visually encourage and celebrate gameplay actions.
  • Note: this feature is available by default but can be turned off by the host in the Share Screen settings. Both the host and the viewer must be participating in the beta to use this feature during the beta period.

You can now adjust the brightness of your PS5 console's power indicator.
  • Go to [Settings] > [System] > [Beep and Light], and then select [Brightness].

between extra and essentials lately I think I've gotten like 2 games each month for like the last 3 months that I want to play not a bad deal.

Same. Have a small hill of titles that keep slowly coming my way through the service, checking that ROI box for me personally. My Premium sub expires literally next month and I've been a day-one subscriber; I think I'll be in good hands with Extra, though. I do however want to knock out a few more movies from the Core app before I lose access next month.

Premium has been a lot better in the last few months, might keep my subscription at this rate.

Sometimes things like that wont be without starting a whole new game even if the original bug was fixed.
I'll need to research which part it us but iirc, at the time, the problem still wasn't fixed. A few people were stuck and reached out to Bend and nothing happened then. So yea, it sounds like I would have to start a new game.

Yeah, I'm a little uncomfortable letting go and downgrading, TBH. I just want more from the tier, I guess – more game trials and newer films from Core, for example. I've had some good Prem moments or takeaways but in sum only in flashes and nothing continuous, reliable as a month-to-month service should deliver.

Is core part of premium? I would definitely get it if they fold VrunchyRoll into core which some where suggesting might happen.

Wow supposedly the ps5 pro specs have leaked and it’s 33.5 teraflops and offers 3 to 4 times RT performance . I’m so down for that. Imagine playing dragons dogma 2 the way it should have been and FF rebirth without sacrificing quality mode. I’d go back and play a ton of games to go after some missing platinums. That would also free up another ps5 for my second tv to just play some older games or indies

I saw this yesterday but was dubious as it was MLID but Tom Henderson says it's true

The internally developed scaling / anti Aliasing solution and ML stuff is intriguing too

Also it's more like 16.7TF as it's FP32

I'm not believing it until its 100% confirmed.
That looks like specs as if they were going to release the PS6.

And it begs the question what developers are going to bother taking advantage of that hardware to really push beyond anything we've ever seen.

I wouldn't put anything past the marvels at Cerny and Co but these specs are erection grade 11 if pans out.

Well in all fairness Sony basically set the PSVR2 up to fail. They did fuck all for marketing and after its initial launch they’ve done fuck all for first party development. Christ knows why but they gave it less support than the PS3’s Move.

More PS5 Pro details from Tom Henderson

System Memory

Standard PlayStation 5 – 448 GB/s (14 GT/s)
PlayStation 5 Pro – 576 GB/s (18GT/s) – A 28% increase over the standard console.

Also outlined is that the PlayStation 5 Pro's system memory is more efficient than the standard console, so the bandwidth gain may increase by over 28%.

CPU

The CPU is identical to the standard PlayStation 5, however, the Pro has a 'High CPU Frequency Mode", which takes the CPU to 3.85GHz – A 10% increase over the standard console.

In High CPU Frequency Mode, more power is allocated to the CPU and will downclock the GPU by around 1.5%, resulting in roughly 1% lower GPU performance.

Audio

The ACV in the PlayStation 5 Pro runs at a higher clock speed over the standard PlayStation 5, resulting in the ACM library having 35% more performance.

  • More convolution reverbs can be processed
  • More FFT or IFFT can be processed

GPU (Previously revealed)

  • Rendering 45% faster than PS5
  • 2-3x Ray-tracing (x4 in some cases)
  • 33.5 Teraflops
  • PSSR (PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution Upscaling) upscaling/antialiasing solution
  • Support for resolutions up to 8K is planned for future SDK version
  • Custom machine learning architecture
  • AI Accelerator, supporting 300 TOPS of 8 bit computation / 67 TFLOPS of 16-bit floating point
In addition: 30 WGPs running specialised BVH8 traversal shaders vs 18 WGPs running BVH4 tranversal shaders on the standard PlayStation 5.
It's also understood that as a means to make the PlayStation 5 Pro as "competitive" (not my phrasing here) as possible, it will have a detachable disc drive which will be identical to the latest iteration of the standard PlayStation 5, and 1TB of storage space.

Currently, the PlayStation 5 Pro is running on SKD 9.00, and SDK 10.00 is expected in Fall 2024, which is the current targeted release date of the console.

Kepler is a AMD leaker

Didn’t this news break from that Japanese guy Mochizuki who makes stuff up about Sony all the time? Maybe it’s true but I’d wait for more info
