Will the PL expansion prove a do-over for the title after widely maligned launch?

I restarted this game after shelving it when it came out and i have to say im having a lot of fun with it so far.

Most of the missions i've done were really cool, i'm liking the combat, the city feels alive, visuals are beautifull

Really well done after all

I grabbed a used copy of Cyberpunk the other day. Should I get Phantom Liberty before I start playing or can I wait until it goes on sale?

Very good question.

I'd say CP2077 in its current condition is a very satisfying experience by itself and very much worth playing.

But also Phantom Liberty is absolutely worth the current price.

Guess it depends on if you plan on replaying it multiple times, like 3 or 4 times, because Phantom Liberty seems to be worth playing at least twice.

Big patch pushed to include new weapon animations:

Cyberpunk 2077 has been updated to Patch 2.12. This game never ceases to amaze me. Playing in 8K 60FPS

Must be playing on an absolute beast of a gaming rig.

Replaying the original, no-DC game. On my first run, I prioritized the main quest. Now I'm hopping from sidequest to sidequest and exploring and just having fun.

I think I'll enjoy the second playthrough more. Been checking out places I never thought existed.

I thought the side quest in this game were fantastic. Some of the best I've ever played honestly.

Main quest is pretty weak TBH. The Johnny Silverhand angle is kinda trash, I think they just wrote it in when they got Keanu on board.
It was enough to keep my interest but that’s about it. Looking forward to the DLC I heard the story in that is great.

Yea they scrapped og story for keanu

(Phantom liberty had awesome story though thank god)

CDP confirms C/punk development is done – with no more work being done on the game.

There were approx. two dozen staff actively working on the title back in February 2024, CDP also reports, but that number is now zero. All game devs have been moved to other projects, including the much anticipated new Witcher game.

Playing with the music at 2:20 was probably one of the best gaming experiences ever. I was playing at hard difficulty (the one before the hardest, forgot the terms).

Anyway it was pure awesomeness, felt like a complete badass lol. what a shame I didn't have a save file close to it, so I couldn't replay it.

Going to do a 4th playthrough the game, 2nd with Phantom Liberty in the near future.

Initially it was announced there was going to be two expansions, just like Witcher 3, and its going to be one of the biggest mysteries of gaming what that expansion was going to be.

I think it reasonable the expansion gets absorbed into C/Punk 2 campaign, no?

Maybe.
Maybe not.
Maybe it was designed to have the engine/systems of CP2077 to have an integral role within the expansion.

Or perhaps you're right and it'll have a high priority within the development of the sequel.

Speaking of which, I heard the majority of CDPR are now working on pre-production of Witcher4... which makes me wonder what the big difference between pre-production & actual production is. Previously I thought preproduction was simply making concept art and planning out the game & development within a certain number of months with all teams working together. But 400 people isn't needed for planning.

Anyway, I'm very interested in learning how smooth of a process this is going to be with Unreal Engine 5.

Yea who knows. I would say they had to cancel it but really they didn't. Phantom Liberty sold very well. If they wanted to do another expansion even now I imagine it would also do very well. Maybe Phantom Liberty was so damn good they realized the next one wouldn't reach that level and it's best to leave on a high note.

The fuckers never gave V a GOOD ending

And that's basically in the spirit of the genre of Cyberpunk.

No one wins.
Everyone loses...
...everything, including their souls.

Its a very bleak view of the future, which many predictions its made since the 80s have had a shockingly high accuracy.
