New crisis: shortage of sand

anyone remember decades ago they how made artificial sand out of glass etc.? once deployed little by little it all started to form into sharp clusters which then began injuring folks.

There's a park near my place and the whole parking lot is that stuff. But it hasn't clustered up yet. I'm scared to drive my car in there and now that fear is legitimized, apparently.

That a gulf state imports sand, doesn't mean they don't have a lot of it. It could just be cheaper using whatever supply lines and companies set up.

Canada imports oil, for example. Although we have a lot of it.
