Well Mirko claimed that Sakakibara had told him that RIZIN would hold an OWGP every 2 years, so the next one would be in 2018. That GP would crown it's winner in September 2018, who would then go on to fight Mirko on NYE 2018 as a kind of OWGP-winner superfight.

In the meantime, Mirko wants to fight twice to stay sharp, once this NYE vs Kohsaka, and then once again before his NYE 2018 match.

The NYE 2018 superfight is also what he currently refers to as his for-real-this-time retirement match.
