Mike Perry smoking something!?!!!

A lot of athletes smoke, but won't do it in public. It relieves them of stress.

Sakuraba used to smoke like a chimney and he could go an hour long match with Royce

Cigarettes don't affect Japanese for some reason. They're some of the biggest smokers per capita on the planet yet still enjoy one of the highest life-expectancies

D30ED859-9740-4148-BD9F-79FB7B266D0A.jpeg so a high level athlete putting smoke in their lungs is no big deal?? isnt weed on usada banned list? isnt nick diaz suspended because of weed? i would think that one can not reach their full potential if they are putting smoke in their lungs. i can give two shits what anyone does to themselves..

it was his instagram video i cant send a link... i took the best screen shot of it that i could..

Not to be a dk but another..... Where's the video ?

giphy.gif

svg, if u go to his ig page and click on his profile pic the video will come up.. theres no way to copy the link and paste it.

You guys post countless threads about perrys cardio being shit, then when u see him smoking something the same guys say its no big deal smh... only at sherdog lol

It's actually legal under USADA... "out of competition."

They only test within a 24 hour period before the event & an hour afterward... or it's okay after you get a USADA test prior to that hour. The threshold is so high that a heavy smoker need only stop smoking 3 days prior to fight night.

Outside of that window... people can smoke all they want.
That may be so, but marijuana stays in your system for like a month

Not at the levels that USADA tests at. What you are referring to is like if you apply for a job & they drug test you... but that's at way more strict standards than USADA tests for. Basically, they just want to make sure you ain't lighting up before going into the cage imo.

We actually studied this pretty intently with @dimspace giving us charts on a study of what exactly a fighter has to do in order to pass USADA's "in competition" pot test... & it was very clear that even the heaviest smokers can drop the habit for 3 dayz & pass it.

It's a 150 ng/mg limit. Those are the numbers going up the left side... & the days (going along the bottom) are what happen to the testable results over time with abstinence. The first dot is after the first day.

The top graph is a very light smoker... like it's his first smoke in a month. That person could probably smoke in the morning before a fight & still not bust (just guessing).... but he's no where near 150 after a day. The middle graph shows a casual but more frequent user... but still after a day, he's in the clear.

Now in the top graph... a daily heavy smoker is a different story. They will be above or right at the limit for at least 2 days... & by the 3rd... they are in the clear.

As you said... it stays in your system for a month... as the graph shows... but it's at a much lower level than USADA tests for.

worth noting, while the actual threshold is 150ng/ml USADA will not charge an athlete with a violation until they hit 180ng/ml (referred to as the "notification threshold")

they built in a 20% buffer automatically on it as a threshold substance (you can imagine the legal shitstorm if they tried to charge someone who was at say 151 ng/ml..)

Good lookin out bro.

Quick question... I just now noticed in that graph that they call it a ng/mg... & you're referring to it as ng/ml... what do make of that?
