Matthew Perry Dead At 54

What's the buzz like?

The high is insane, you feel completely out of it. Like you have no control of your body. It's like an out of the body experience and your seeing so many different things. I couldn't really move, I was that sedated by it. That's why I'm thinking bad combination with going into hot tub and taking that drug. It's just too dangerous of a risk, not worth it.

Wow that's pretty dumb to take that drug and go in a big hot tub like that.

Special K just completely immobilizes you from my experience.
k + bathtub in a dark bathroom is *chef’s kiss*, so i can imagine k + hot tub being really nice too. w/ that said, hot tub just seems like you’re taking an unnecessary risk when a shallow bathtub (even that holds its own risks, ofc), or a sensory deprivation tank (if you can afford it), are 100% pure vibes

obviously this all could have been avoided if he wasn’t flying solo

What's the buzz like?
In my experience, it's not good or bad, but a strange high, that fucks with your senses and made me feel like plastic. Like if I rubbed my fingers together, it'd feel like a doll's hand, and you'd be pretty spaced out. Can't say I felt immobilized, although I might not have gone as hard as some others do. Not sure what a normal dose is, or the proper delivery method is. We just snorted and smoked it occasionally. It was pretty common back in the rave days.

Half a year after the death of Matthew Perry from acute effects of anaesthetic ketamine, the Los Angeles police department (LAPD) and Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) have launched a joint criminal investigation looking into how the Friends star got the prescription medication, law enforcement sources confirmed to the Los Angeles Times on Tuesday.

Perry died at the age of 54 on 28 October 2023 in a hot tub at his Pacific Palisades home. Trace amounts of ketamine, which is sometimes used to treat depression, were found in his stomach, according to the Los Angeles medical examiner.

However an autopsy found levels of ketamine in his blood similar to levels used during general anaesthesia. 'At the high levels of ketamine found in his postmortem blood specimens, the main lethal effects would be from both cardiovascular overstimulation and respiratory depression,' the autopsy report stated.

The autopsy also identified drowning, coronary artery disease and buprenorphine – a drug used to treat opioid addiction, which Perry discussed openly in interviews and his 2022 memoir – as contributing factors in his death. It was ruled an accident, with no evidence of foul play.

The LAPD and DEA, however, are now looking into how the actor came to possess high levels of ketamine, in his system and in general. TMZ was the first to report the investigation, which is primarily concerned with who provided the drug, and under what circumstances.

According to the medical examiner, Perry was undergoing ketamine infusion therapy for anxiety and depression in the days before his death. His last known infusion was a week and a half prior, meaning the ketamine found in his system in the autopsy was not from the procedure.

Put all your resources into it! A celebrity died of a drug overdose, damnit!

Not trying to be a prick, but my cynicism is peeking right now. If his name was Anton Johnson and he wasn't a big celebrity, they'd chalk it up to personal decisions, maybe ask a few questions around the neighborhood and move on. Thousands of people die every day in the same manner, but now they gotta get to the bottom of it. This guy was on "Friends" after all.

I'm not against it, but hey, why not put that same effort into the thousands of OD's that happen every single day?

My understanding is that those contracts were signed under immense pressure and duress. Either way Seinfeld is a dick.

Where did you hear that? Also why do you say he's a dick? What's the story there? I have googled a bit and saw that he married someone who was married at the time he met her, but that is a pretty normal thing in America these days.

I snorted some at a friends house where he lived with his girlfriend during college. She was all about drinking and partying, but just not the drugs. When she was in the bathroom, he snorted some. He was playing it off halfway decent, but then he had to stand up to pee. When he stood up and started walking, it was like the scene in Fear and Loathing when they do ether. It was fucking hilarious.
