God they knew how to put on a show straight out the bat

Why were they so good over there? Did the Japanese have a lot of experience putting on similar type of events and just transferred it to MMA events? We're talking they did this shit fucking ages ago, not yesterday.

They've always had a lot of theatre around their fighting cultures, probably going back millennia. Certainly a lot in JMMA came from pro wrestling as well, which was huge at the time too (probably still is?)

Japanese have a great attention to detail and atmosphere. They also look at martial arts in a different way over there. They appreciate anyone who enters the cage to fight. If CM Punk fought in pride they would think he was gutsy and brave for trying it like their other pro wrestlers.


So right off the bat UFC is playing to a different customer. American fans think they are smarter than the fighters and laugh at any misfortune that befalls them. If UFC tried to copy pride they'd just say wow lol that sucks it's not as good as pride lol Dana fails again..and it might turn off new fans who rather prefer the boxing approach instead of this "galactic pro wrestling" thing pride has going.

Europe also appreciates the Pride style more as evidenced by Klitschko and usyk's entrances ...


It's just not as much of a thing here.

Fuck, bro. The UFCs entrances are no where near boxing entrances. They're not even anywhere near as good as any of their competition in PFL or ONE.

No ramp, no nothing. In the UFC they just walk out of some side entrance. It's lame as fuck.
 
Pride walkouts were truly something, most UFC walkouts are a good opportunity to grab a beer.
