When is this guy going to defend the title? Do y'all remember Usman's reign and how active he was?
I don't know what the schedules are but I'm certain this guy isn't defending his belt till September, and if he wins, we're going to wait for him till July 2025 for him to fight again. His reign is terrible, he's really holding up the top 7/8.

He's hoping that they all cancel out each other, whereas Kamaru was doing a demolition job on everyone one after the other.

WW was an exciting division but he's stinking up the place.
 
People forget that WW used to be one of the great divisions of MMA. GSP kinda overshadowed his era by being better than everybody else, but that was a true Golden Era of MMA where there were ALWAYS great matchups happening.

It's a barren wasteland compared to what it used to be.
 
Champions have becomen lame in the UFV recently. 3 a year doesn't apply to them anymore. If anything they should set an example. DDP also slow to defend. Leon is fighting very sporadicaly the higher he gets. Islam is also not active.

Izzy at least kept showing up.

Add in Jones Stipe locking the title for eternities.

Super lame belt fights in recent years.

Poatan is active. But I want a WW-HW fight every second month at least. Should be 10 fights a year not counting LW and below. Really lame. Sure they deserved it. But it's a joke. Become champ, earn money trough sponsorships. Fight once max twice a year.

The fact we just had UFC 301 with a FLW headliner says it all really.

Next thing you know Raquel's going to headline a PPV.

Still waiting why no numbers come out at all anymore. Did they manage to break 40 k ppv sales ?

Kamaru held the belt from the day he won it march 2 2019 until Aug 20 2022 when he lost it. 1267 days with 6 defenses (5 successful and 1 he lost). One fight every 211 days or once every 7 months. Leon defended it twice in 483 days so a slower pace and is likely fighitng in July in Manchester so that will make it 3 in 707 days. That will be once every 235 days or 7.8 months. Not exactly Leon's fault with the UFC shelving him to keep him for the UK card in summer when he would have been ready to fight for UFC 300.

Stop acting like Leon is refusing to fight for a huge chunk of the year every year like Islam. Ramadan is 1 month but it causes him to sit for 3-4 months of the year.
 
Seems like most WW, probably champions in general only fight once every 200 days or so. I did some very quick math based on the longest reigning champions and JJ was the most active at 180 days. Usman, Anderson, DJ, GSP are all well over 200 days.
 
It's not Leon, it's UFC match makers like said above. They're the reasons why WW,HW and MW are shit shows right now. Where undeserving guys are getting TS and fighting up all over the place while deserving guys are getting shelved and getting passed in favor of guys that will make big money match ups.

Yup. This is true, the match making was better.

GSP vs diaz still had Hendricks vs condit, And ellenburger vs marquardt booked. The fight bookings were good you'd still get non title fights like Condit vs Woodley or Condit vs hendricks, Hendricks vs fitch, lawler vs mcdonald the match making at WW and LW is the worst in all of the UFC.

MW was fine and will be fine if they don't let Dricus fight izzy next. If they make dricus fight someone else things will be okay but if they stall the division with the izzy rematch and make it later in the year there is going to be a log jam. with Costa/strickland winner, Khamzat/whittaker winner and brendan allen all claiming title shots. They should just make Dricus vs Allen now. Then Khamzat vs Whittaker winner, Izzy fights SOMEONE (anyone really)

It is his fault. This isnt like a one off for him this was him before he even won the championship. Great fighter, terrible champion. Man struggles to average two fight a year. Its pathetic.
 
Wasting your prime years not fighting is almost always a mistake. Leon will not be able to retire comfortably
