Former IBF super featherweight champion Jose 'Sniper' Pedraza is ready to resume his career. Luis Espada, trainer and stepfather of the fighter, revealed yesterday that on July 15 he will officially say goodbye to 130 pounds, when he faces Jamel Herring (16-1, 9 KO's). In his view, it will be the first step towards a future starting opportunity at 135 pounds. "We already have a date against a top opponent," said Luis Espada, Pedraza's trainer and stepfather, to Carlos Gonzalez. "Apparently we have to face elites opponents. Herring is a good fighter," Espada said.

The fight will be part of the event headlined by the welterweight fight between Omar Figueroa Jr. and Robert Guerrero, and will take place at the Nassau Coliseum in Uniondale, New York. "Within everything, we are happy. He was giving us the anxiety of not being active. It was one of the elements that tormented us. Earlier it was said that Pedraza would fight in June, but postponed it for July 15," he said. "We had a break, but we're going to start the glove sessions and work on specific things," he added.

This past January, Pedraza suffered the first loss of his career in pro boxing, when he fell by TKO at the hands of Gervonta Davis. He immediately said he would not continue at 130 pounds. One of the most relevant adjustments Pedraza will make will be the assistance of a professional chef, his coach said. "The change in nutrition with the help of a nutritionist will be significant. It will be the first time we have a chef for a weight change. Jose is very comfortable with the changes, in good spirits and going crazy to debut at 135 pounds to keep going with his career." Espada is confident that his pupil will be able to get in position to aspire to a world belt by the end of this year and, in turn, get a better amount of money. "We will try to maximize his capabilities and his potential," he concluded. - See more at: http://www.boxingscene.com/jose-ped...ro-figueroa-card--116985#sthash.GFAF5ZqN.dpuf

This is a GREAT matchup.

I'd prefer it as a main event over Guerrero vs Omar.

Unfortunately its going to be on FS1 at 10pm which means it will go up against HBO's stacked card
