Rampage had just turned 33 and said he was better prepared before the Jones fight than he'd ever been. Machida was also 33 when he fought Jones. Rashad Evans was 32 and coming off a dominant win over Phil Davis--he was literally peaking when he fought Jones. Shogun wasn't even 30 when he fought Jones.Rampage was past prime, glover was still old, smith isn’t even an elite fighter. Jones had a huge size advantage over all those guys. Gus turned out to be not very good and jones arguably lost to him, along with Reyes who are jones same size
Rampage had knee issues and he was past prime by the time he fought jones. Rashad and machida were good wins but jones had a huge size advantage and was on roids, machida and Rashad are natural middleweights like everyone jones fought besides Reyes and GusRampage had just turned 33 and said he was better prepared before the Jones fight than he'd ever been. Machida was also 33 when he fought Jones. Rashad Evans was 32 and coming off a dominant win over Phil Davis--he was literally peaking when he fought Jones. Shogun wasn't even 30 when he fought Jones.
All of those fighters were considerably younger than Jan, Glover or Poatan, all recent LHW champs. It's a complete myth that Jones beat super old guys in title defenses.
Khabib doesn't even hold the record for the most title defenses at LW. He's tied with Penn, Frankie Edgar and Bendo. And all of Khabib's opponents in title defenses were strikers. Conor, Dustin and Gaethje all posed the same basic threat and all had holes in either TDD or submission defense. Jones, OTOH, fought a large variety of strikers and grapplers, including about 6 former D1 wrestlers over his career.
Jones was twice their size and on the juiceJones won the title against Shogun and his 3 defenses were against Rampage, Rashad and Machida. Can it get any more legendary that that?
Khabib won the title against a real estate agent and defended against post-Mayweather Conor and the Ustin brothers, then quit. RDA is the only fight that really stands out before that.
Glover was not still old. The guy was on a 20 fight win streak back then. No one was fucking with him until Jon came around.Rampage was past prime, glover was still old, smith isn’t even an elite fighter. Jones had a huge size advantage over all those guys. He was like 36Glover was not still old. The guy was on a 20 fight win streak back then. No one was fucking with him until Jon came around.
So what? DC is the same age as Glover and was fucking up everyone until he fought Jon too. You can argue that all those "washed old MW's" weren't in their primes or some of those wins over LHW guys like Gustaffson and Smith don't hold up, but you can't argue that Jon didn't beat Glover and DC at their absolute bests and that tthose wins didn't age well.. considering DC went on to be a double champ and Glover ended up being LHW champ. He was like 36
Take away half of Jon's resume and it's still better than Khabib's.Alright, let's settle this once and for all: Jon Jones is the most overrated fighter in MMA history. The REAL GOAT is Khabib Nurmagomedov, and if you don't agree, you're delusional.
1. **Weak Competition:** Jones fought a bunch of washed-up legends and got lucky. Half of his "greatest hits" were against guys who should've retired years ago. Meanwhile, Khabib dominated killers in their prime like Conor, Dustin, and Gaethje. Get real.
2. **Undefeated vs. Paper Champ:** Khabib retired with a flawless 29-0 record, making everyone he fought look like amateurs. Jones? He’s got that DQ loss and let's not forget those sketchy decisions that could've easily gone the other way. Yeah, I said it.
3. **Behavior Matters:** Khabib is a role model, plain and simple. Jones? He’s a walking disaster. DUIs, hit-and-runs, failed drug tests... you name it, he's done it. The guy’s a trainwreck, and it’s embarrassing.
4. **Skills:** Sure, Jones is versatile, but Khabib’s grappling is next-level. Nobody—and I mean nobody—could handle him on the ground. Watching Khabib fight was like watching a lion play with its prey.
5. **Impact:** Khabib’s got fans worldwide, especially in the Muslim community. He brought a whole new audience to MMA. Jones? He's too busy ruining his own legacy to make any real impact.
So let's cut the crap and give Khabib the credit he deserves. Jon Jones might be good, but he’s no GOAT. Come at me, Sherdog. Let’s hear your excuses for Jones.
There is no one more overrated than Khabib in MMA. I truly believe that. Only one I could consider close to that is Ben AskrenRampage had just turned 33 and said he was better prepared before the Jones fight than he'd ever been. Machida was also 33 when he fought Jones. They were all much smaller then him and he had a steroid advantageSo what? DC is the same age as Glover and was fucking up everyone until he fought Jon too. Another Jones-hater post, how boring. You are only showing your ignorance of the sport.Alright, let's settle this once and for all: Jon Jones is the most overrated fighter in MMA history. The REAL GOAT is Khabib Nurmagomedov, and if you don't agree, you're delusional.
