Have a good friend who worked security at the Mandalay Bay years ago, he would escort the fighters to the ring a lot and we always got a kick out of seeing him on HBO. He didn't follow boxing as closely as I did, but I always asked him if he got to know and talk to the fighters, and he had a lot of stories. One thing he always said is the Johnny Tapia was the nicest of all the fighters and would always give him a hug and talk to him when he came to Vegas and saw him. I know Tapia had a lot of demons, but I always liked him, he wore his heart on his sleeve and you could always see his passion and love for his fans shine through in his fights and interviews.
