Never naming President Trump you could tell this speech was directed at President Trump and the message he is sending to the world.
Taking parts from great speeches in the past he painted a picture that America First policy could cost the US on the world stage in ways they have not seen in anytime in history.
"
Washington (CNN)In a lofty and at moments pointed speech, Sen. John McCain on Monday cautioned against the US turning toward "half-baked, spurious nationalism" during an event honoring the war hero's contributions.

Reflecting on his decades-long political history, McCain warned that to "fear" the world the US has led for the better part of a century, "abandon the ideals we have advanced around the globe" and "refuse the obligations of international leadership ... for the sake of some half-baked, spurious nationalism cooked up by people who would rather find scapegoats than solve problems" is unpatriotic.
"As unpatriotic," he continued, "as an attachment to any other tired dogma of the past that Americans consigned to the ash heap of history.""

"McCain used the moment -- meant to mark his service to country -- to warn US leadership against moving backward toward nationalistic, "America First" instincts espoused by some of President Donald "I have so many websites" Trump's key advisers, without referring to Donald "I have so many websites" Trump or his team by name. If allowed to take root, McCain cautioned, those tendencies could relegate the US to a backseat on the world stage, leaving a vacuum of power in its wake."

Says one of the worst war mongers in recent history.
"abandon the ideals we have advanced around the globe"
Yes, like in Iraq, Libya or Afghanistan for instance.
Huge advancement!

But hey, he's speaking out against Trump now and then.

Yet it looks like him an Trump see eye to eye on Syria and expanding footprint on Iraq. We have a history on Senator McCain an President Trump's history is quickly being written and it's not that good ether. But maybe John wants not to leave a message of aggression as his last time in office.

John McCain is a living breathing advertisement for term limits!

I sincerly doubt that McCain wants to leave a message of peace after pushing for unrighteous war time after time.

He talked about war with air strikes against North Korea and blamed the Clinton's for NK's nuclear ability. He pushed for war against Serbs so Muslims in Kosovo could be granted their own state.

He ridiculed the notion that America should care about what Japan and South Korea thought about the American policy regarding NK. No need to mention his views about the Iraq war either.

All in all, there is one thing to criticise Trump but McCain is far from credible when it comes to foreign policy.

lol

More the the old warhawk pos can't stand Trumps neutral behaviour towards Russia.

He's a bitter, old war monger who has advocated for the deaths of millions.

He's still bitter that Trump is president, and he is not.

The guy picked Palin for VP and is a war hawk but it appears since he's against Trump that all is cool now and we should take the war hero's word.

McCain has totally disgraced himself at this point.

Will be great when we no longer have to deal with him here soon.

haha you lunatic Trumpers will just criticize anyone who disagrees with your hero. Such a joke. He literally could kill a baby and you guys would defend him.
