I think he is simply very confident in his own abilities, yes.

Volka WILL be the favorite for this fight but.... I do think Topuria has a really quite good chance of winning this fight. He is a superb fighter, very aggressive, striking, ground game, cardio.
I think this is a very dangerous fight for Volkanovski.

If Volka gets the win, I will be impressed. I feel it's likely to go the distance and be a close decision, maybe even a split.
Do not underestimate Topuria, he could easily win this fight if he brings his A-game and he executes perfectly.

ps. just checked the odds and, yes, Volka, is a very MILD favorite currently at -130 and Topuria is the underdog at around +120. Those are v close odds. Could be a bit of a coin-flip.

Topuria is a pretty cocky guy, but I think he's overconfident after seeking some statistics.

- Volk got knockedout pretty bad by a headkick + hard hammershots against a bigger'n'Stronger guy.

- Topuria have really long arms, and seems to have a solid ground game, things that can deny Volk Biggest advantages.

- Also a 35Yo+ guy has never won a title figth in 155, 145 and 135 lbs in UFC history.

Let's see if Volk can break one more record or not.

He’s hyping the fight. He might actually believe it. I dont think he wins though. Volk has never had an amazing chin and wasn’t completely out against Islam. against Josh emmett he would tag emmett when he rushed in, and chopped him with low kicks cause emmett has no movement. In the third round when emmett started fighting from range it was a much closer round. He didn’t win it but it was much more competitive than the first 2 rounds. Ilia doesn’t move much either to be honest, and he’s fast but not as fast as volk

Topuria isn't really likeable, and has NO mass appeal. He's not going to be given a pass for being a douche, like Conor, because he brings nothing else as a character.

Topuria is very skilled and has natural fighting abilities. He is very composed and calculated when he fights. Of course he is confident.

This will prove to be a very difficult fight for Volk. He will probably get caught mixing it up with Topuria at some point, setting up the potential for a finish.

Having said that, many suddenly forgot that the real Volk is not the one getting KOd as a super late replacement vs top P4P fighter Islam … the real Volk is the one who took everything Islam had and was beating him in the end, the one that has defeated Max 3x who in turn has been an insurmountable gatekeeper for the entire division … I think Volk might remind us that he’s just a level up on the whole division including Topuria.
