Stipe has been retired for 3 years.

Of course it's Jon fucking Jones were talking about, but the truth is we've only seen him in the cage for barely over 2 minutes in the past 51 months. Considering that Francis lay n prayed Gane to victory, it's probably not too crazy to suggest "The ghost of Stipe Miocic" could finish Gane as well. Stipe doesn't have large deficiencies in his mma game, except for being around since the time of Jesus.

whether there was an interim champ or not doesn't matter, there is one while jones is the champ. any other and every other time, they both fight each other to unify the belt. not fight an over the hill older guy and ignore the wishes of the fans.

it's not a strange take, it's reality. champ gets injured, UFC sets up interim, they fight each other later to unify the belts. happens every other time. except this one..... lol........

If both are washed... at least it means both are "clean".
 
If Jones were to lose not only will you have people saying “he was washed” but there’s going to be geniuses saying “he was never that good to begin with”

Could well be its the truth of course, Jones has one win in 4 1/2 years against an opponent with very limited grappling, Stipe hasnt won in 4 years, is 41 and his last fight was a massive KO loss.

I think its an interesting fight on some level because both guys form is very uncertain, its simply not a fight which is worthy of being for the HW title at all nore a fight which is proven to have much significance for the legacy of either man.
