If Stipe beats Francis?

No.

Werdum still holds that.

If Stipe can beat Cain as well, then he's the GOAT.

If he beats NGannou, then NGannou will suddenly become an overrated can. At least to Sherdog.

How is someone in the running for GOAT in just a few fights?

Dat short/limited memory.

No one has stood out in the UFC in the way Fedor stood out in PRIDE. As far as UFC GOATS, he'll have the record wins but its such a competitive circle its going to take awhile for someone to really stand out above the rest.

JDS has the most wins over top UFC fighters though with victories over Cain, Shane, Werdum, Stipe, Hunt and Mir. Thats four fighters that reached champ that he has beat in the UFC. And if you count Shane's interim, five.

A few?

If he beats Francis he will have a stellar 12-2 record in the UFC (a record that good at heavyweight and only being finished once is worth more relevant to other weight classes) and the record for most HW title defences, how is that not in the running for the GOAT heavyweight at least in the UFC?

How many other heavyweights have been on as good a run as Stipe if he wins? Not many.

is he locked in for GOAT HW in your opinion?

His loss to Struve will always be cited as a reason why he cannot be the GOAT...even if he cleaned out the whole division.

Yeah, not a long history....

GSP lost to Matt Serra and he's still considered the GOAT.

He will be the UFC HW GOAT, but he's got to win probably 4-5 more to catch up to Fedor.

The Cain stipulation is hilarious because we don't even know if he's ever coming back.

You are saying Werdum, who lost to Stipe has a better resume?

Werdum has 5 losses in the UFC, Stipe, Overeem twice (who Stipe also beat), Arlovski (who Stipe also beat) and JDS (again who Stipe also beat).

A win over Cain at his worst and an aging Fedor are Werdum's claim to fame.

Stipe's resume is far better. Does it make him a GOAT contender at HW? Not yet. Beat Ngannou and Cain and then he is the undisputed man.

yea werdum aint even top 3 imo.

Depends on how he wins. If he holds him down for 25 mins, he'll probably get booed. If he stands and bangs with Ngannou and gets an impressive KO? He'd certainly be in the conversation... ;)
