How does Jose Aldo have the best TDD in MMA history even though he never wrestled in HS or college?

A great sense of distance and timing are the 2 most important variables for great MMA wrestling.

There are fighters with amazing wrestling backgrounds like Hendo who are just really bad MMA wrestlers because they have a poor sense of how wrestling fits together with stand-up in MMA.

connor took him down pretty fast and has no wrestliung background:

we all know who doesnt have excellent take down defence

Good reflexes, great hips, and strong legs. With these 3 things and some training, stuffing TDs isn't terribly difficult.

he's lost a step since the mcgregor knockout tho that's for sure. I think he dominated Edgar because he has him figured out. Same with Lamas, he should easily win that fight. Getting slept in 13 seconds when you hadn't lost in 10+ years has gotta be a blow.
Agree. It's a mental battle for Aldo. Guy came from nothing and reached the top. He's more successful in life than most people on this planet. That, plus the fact that his training camp sucks. That pedro whatever the fuck his name is, is an arrogant cunt, and refuses to learn new techniques. Max proved how almost irrelevant Aldo was without a Plan B. Yeah we all know Aldo's standup is lightning quick, but when he fades he relies on nothing but standup!! Max decimated him. If Aldo can't adjust to something other than his standup, he'll never be champion again.

Best TDD in MMA history = Stopping TD’s from T-Rex midgets

His hips are god-tier and he has amazing anticipation/reflexes.

I really do think a large chunk of anti-wrestling is genetic, and Aldo came out on top in a big way in that regard (although of course he works hard).

Demian Maia started training BJJ at 19 and became quite decent at it.
