As a defense, it still works (within reasonable limits) in MMA because striking tends to be more elementary. However, I think fighters will eventually catch up because it's not really that hard to counter.

The status of refereeing in MMA is embarrassing and as a result fouling is a profitable strategy. Fighters should take a page off OSP's book to deal with eye-pokes. You've got fingers coming your way? Bitch-slap or punch those fuckers until they either jam or the guy stops reaching.
