Some honorable mentions:

Ricardo "The Brazilian Tiger" Arona (14-5): PRIDE vet with wins over Jeremy Horn, Guy Mezger, Hendo, Ninja, Sakuraba, Wand and Overeem. Had that close fight with Fedor while being a LHW. Made Overeem tap to strikes. Legend say he may comeback next year. A very old legend.

Kazuo "Grabaka Hitman" Misaki (25-11): One of the best Japanese fighters to ever do it, wins over Hendo, Baroni, Jorge "Macaco" Patino, Ed Herman, Joe Riggs, Siyar Baharduzada, Paul Daley and Kazuhiro Nakamura. Fought at PRIDE, Pancrase, Sengoku, SF and Deep. Grand Prix champ over prime Denis Kang.

Paulo "Ely" Filho (23-6): PRIDE and WEC vet, wins over Ryo Chonan, Murilo "Ninja" Rua, Kazuo Misaki, Chael "Undefeated" Sonnen, Ryuta Sakurai, Melvin Manhoef and Joe Derksen. Fought Chael Sonnen and 2 ghosts together while on drugs.

Bibiano "The Flash" Fernandes (21-3): ONE and Dream vet, wins over Joachim Hansen, Joe "The Baddest Man on the Planet" Warren, Masakatsu Ueda and Hiroyuki Takaya. Teammate of the top P4P of UFC. DJ once said that he is not afraid to grapple with ADCC/IBJJF champions at UFC because he trains with a beast of grappler aswell, talking about Bibi.

Mamed Khalidov (34-4): KSW vet and currently champion, wins over Melvin Manhoef, Matt Lindland, Luke Barnatt, Igor Pokrajac, Daniel Acacio, Jorge "The Sandman" Santiago, Jesse Taylor, Kendall Grove, Ryuta Sakurai, Maiquel Falcao, Brett Cooper, Michal Materla, Borys Mankowski and James irvin. Probably the best fighter technically speaking, to never fight for UFC/Bellator, still fighting and winning to this day at 37 years old.

My pick for the greatest tho is Igor "Ice Cold" Vovchanchyn (56-10): a pioneer at smaller orgs but also a PRIDE vet with a fucking 37 win streak and who fought giants at HW while being 5'7, wins over Mark Kerr, Paul Varelans, Gary Goodridge, Carlos Barreto, Kazushi Sakuraba, Gilbert Yvel, Valentijin Overeem, Nobuhiko Takada, Enson Inoue and Dan Bobish. Legend.

Probably Bibi. Dude trains with Mighty Mouse, might dominate BW, except "It's a lot of fighter's dreams to fight in the UFC. It ain't his (sic)."

Fedor. I know he fought in Bellator, but he didn't really compete.

I mean.... If we're not counting UFC OR Bellator, does it really matter? I wanted to say ben askren but....

Shinya aoki before he started to suck. Still don't mind him and BJ penn going at it at this point in their careers

I can't disagree with the guys in the OP. Those are great examples. I will add one more:

Edit: damn. Somebody beat me to it

Igor is my favorite ever so great pick! Cool thread, and I never miss a bibs fight either. Good stuff ts

There are a lot of choices out there. But I would have to say Igor.

Funaki...

Beat Frank shamrock, semmy Shilt, yuki condo, bas rutten and many others

Igor's win over Kerr was mind blowing, thought he had no chance of winning that fight, Kerr was just so deadly back then before this fight...after this fight not so much

This topic was a nice read though

Igor.

He’s the guy that made me a hardcore fan though so I’m admittedly biased.

Vovchanchyn was a fucking monster. I remember the sound of his punches, they sounded nasty. If he got waist control it was usually game over.

I'll go with Krazy, Kid, or Charles........ ;)
