Difficult question. I think terrorism and refugees crisis are two different issues for now. So I am not sure a large scale terrorist attack would change peoples mind.

People were simply wrong and had unrealistic views of what would happen. Of course lots of people will claim it was the fault of the press politicians were lying etc. But to be honest that are all just excuses, what did people thing would happen if they offer anyone to come to Germany? Even now the majority of Germans are still favor of it.
It's just not a political reality that a government would not open the border if there is no majority will from the people. That would be political suicide. I still think the CDU will still get around 30% in the next election which should easily make it the party with the most votes.
