I think he genuinely thought :"I beat the best HW in the world, so I should be able to beat Joshua". Not realizing that he was no longer going to have the element of surprise heading into a boxing ring.

Every boxing fight Francis has from now on, if he chooses to continue, will be against a boxer who will take him seriously. Which is really bad news for Francis.
