I have some legit horrible IBS complete with gas, constipation and all that jazz. No over the counter products like GasX worked for me.

I then discovered fennel seed which I straight up chew or make tea with and it relieves my symptoms 100%. I take it in the evenings and my bowel movements have regulated nicely and the bloat has gone away.

The problem is I have developed man boobs and even lactated once just the other day. I am in great shape at 11% bf.

Can someone help with an alternative remedy for my gas and constipation? I already take metamucil FYI.

Try eating tons of vegetables. Start with 3 whole carrots everyday and an apple. Maybe lay off the dairy

It really flared back up after a 6 week, no supplement layoff. Now back on the whey, citrulline, creatine, tongcat ali, etc.

I may just need to wait out until my body readjusts.

Try making a shaved carrot salad with vinegar and olive or coconut oil as dressing. Always helps sort out my gut. The carrot fibers are extremely mild and shouldn't aggravate IBS at all. I liked to add some shaved beets to the salad as well (also seems to help with making things "pass"). Definitely give it a shot, and just used a peeler to make the carrot/beet shavings.

With IBS, your main goal should be inhibiting endotoxin formation. A diet lower in fat will be best for this, as fat promotes endotoxin formation. At the same time, increasing cholesterol intake may help with inhibiting endotoxin secretion as well, since bile acids (a product of cholesterol) inhibit the inflammatory actions of endotoxin. So if you do have fat in your diet, make sure it contains ample amounts of cholesterol (e.g. eggs and liver are good sources). You'll want to get fat soluble vitamins like retinol, and the eggs/liver are great sources of that anyway.

Mild "non-damaging" exercise may help as well (e.g. low intensity hiking/biking), since it's been found to inhibit the inflammatory actions of endotoxin in real live humans.

I personally believe IBS is caused mainly by stress and it can be aggravated by certain foods, which depends from a person. I'm not aware of any effective remedy for IBS.

Some people say avoiding insoluble fiber (whole grains, certain vegetables) and fats help them.

Gas/flatulence is usually not the main symptom of IBS, so you can try a low-fructose or low-FODMAP diet - if it helps it may mean you have fructose malabsorption.

I have terrible IBS myself.

Used to deal with frequent constipation, even eating a low fat diet with plenty of water.

Finally realized I needed lots of insoluble fibre in my diet, worked like a charm, doesn't bother me nearly as much anymore, 99.9% of the time I have no symptoms at all.

Maybe you should just try some high insoluble fibre products, like I said, I was going through the same thing for many years, finally took my diet seriously, things have been great for over a year now.

Depends on the type of symptoms you have, low fat is always a good idea, but if you're dealing with frequent IBS induced constipation, Insoluble fibre works like a charm, that's what I found anyway.

I eat tons, (30-38 grams) of insoluble fibre a day, Fibre One products and high fibre breads, havnt dealt with constipation in over a year now.

Yes, it makes sense. Insoluble fiber helps to prevent constipation, I can confirm this - but I do not have IBS.

Quite some people say insoluble fiber irritates them, maybe they have more IBS-D than IBS-C.

That's when you eat more soluble fibre.

I suffered from IBS for years, it was stress related and was agitated by certain foods.

Yes, not eating these foods and eating plenty of "good" food helped but it was caused by stress, don't treat the symptoms, treat the cause.

I have some legit horrible IBS complete with gas...

I already take metamucil FYI.

Metamucil is psyllium husk, which contains a lot of soluble fiber, which can cause gas, so this may not be the best for you.

Other foods high in soluble fiber you may want to limit/avoid: oats, barley, beans, peas, lentils, Brussel's sprouts, broccoli, artichokes, oranges...

Are you self diagnosing that you have IBS? Talk to your doc. Maybe get a referral to see a GI specialist. Following that ask for a referral to see an RD.

What if your stress is caused by the symptoms?

this^^^. Are people here diagnosed with IBS, UC of CD, or are you self-diagnosing?

might be the whey, that stuff rips me apart. lots of people have issues with dairy in all of its forms.

i was diagnosed with IBS via colonoscopy when I was in my early 20's, and I was prescribed bentyl. I stopped with dairy and I rarely had any GI issues, so I stopped with the bentyl, and I continued to do well.

As I've gotten older I've learned that I have to avoid super spicy foods that I used to love when I was younger. Really sucks, but it is what it is.

I had horrible IBS which caused bloating, cramps, painful bowel movents and constant burping. Started a regiment and now it is mainly under control. Below is what I did to get rid of my issues.

Bigelow Lemon ginger + probiotic tea
Jarrow EPS probiotic pill
Fitness fiber + berry green powder drink
Cultivate digestive enzyme prior to eating dinner

I also take orange triad multi which has a digestive aid.
