He deserved the title fight before he even fought Whitaker. This new era where you have to win at least 10 fights in a row for a shot is bullshit. I get they want marketable champs, but some semblance of merit would be nice.

With the way the middleweight division is now I would say Romero deserves his shot. The next in line would probably be Weidman who is on a one fight win streak after 3 consecutive T(KO)s and who already got his shit pushed in by Romero.

Whittaker was injured during the fight. Very different to Bisping who is just getting old injuries treated so he can hold the belt for longer.
