Do fighters have the hardest job in the world?

Hard is working at Punchbowl High or Granville Boys where little Mohammed who cant read but has been passed through to the 9th grade says "I dont have a pen". You give him one and in front of your face throws it out the window and says "fuck you, what you gonna do now". There is still 45 mins left in the lesson.

Depends on the level of both the fighter and their training. And for the people posting pictures of fighters partying in their off time, you're really missing the point; that has nothing to do with how hard the job is. Even soldiers get time off to party up, bang hookers in Southeast Asia, etc.

I would say a top tier fighter who trains at that level is definitely doing one of the hardest jobs in the world. You have to consider that the barrier to entry can suck, as you have to split time between a regular job and training if you don't have some sort of safety net or family member to rely on, while you build your fighting resumé. Then, during the fight camp, you have to control your diet and energy 24/7, can't be out partying like an idiot or face the consequences like Cerrone, possibly Rockhold. Even those guys are bad examples, because it neglects the decade of dumping all their time into learning how to fight and evolve with the sport.

The training itself is easily harder than any other sport. Impact damage to every single part of your body, on top of constant head trauma, extreme cardio and muscle endurance workouts, it's fucking brutal. Constant injuries, subjecting themselves to ruthless extended weight cuts, which is harder than any physical labor job. Sure, you occasionally got extraordinarily talented guys like BJ Penn, but natural talent doesn't cut it anymore in MMA.

While the actual "work" part of MMA and training is far more physically demanding than anything else, it really depends on your definition of hard. Do you consider a somewhat physically demanding job consisting of mindless workdays 5 days a week on company hours with no say in anything for decades harder than a job that's many times more physically damaging and exhausting, but where you get a lot more control over your schedule and the work itself and retire much younger?

These guys get punched in the face for a living, every day training until their sore bodies are pushed to the limit. While your sitting in an office in AC, complaining about your 9-5 and how tired you are when you get off work. Can you agree fighters have the most difficult job in the world?

the hardest job is whatever one i happen to be doing at any given time

look at how fighters have a nervous breakdown whenever a minor commentator makes a slight criticism on one of their bouts and you get an idea how theyd cope in a normal work environment

Brendan Schaub has the hardest job in the world. He's always so busy and his attention to detail is second to none. He even said he doesn't drink because he's got stuff to do.

Maybe in the sport world, yeah. Overall? No.

Yeah, totally. I don't know how anyone can handle the difficulty of working out, then taking 6 months of vacation every year, and banging an unlimited number of white trash skanks.

People work out and train on their own for fun as a hobby. Nobody is waking up at 5am to go do farm work as a hobby.

Training is fun but fighting is risky.

Hardest? not even kinda close.

Try working an illegal mine for like $2 a day on a good day.

I understand that but its time in the gym bettering yourself vs working for a lame ass union where your performance doesn't get you anymore money than the guy who is slacking all the time. Guess I just had a bad experience with that union and thats why I switched to electrical union. I get it though, depending on the effort put out im sure being a fighter is draining.

That wasn't a union problem, it was a wrong employer problem.

First thought to pop to mind....

I seen the title and was about to rant, then I watched the rant and totally loved it. Damn truth. Staying home with the kids without worrying about work stresses, studying for the latest certs, and money 24/7 would be a fucking breeze. Bill nailed it. Housewives are too busy patting themselves on the back and too disassociated with reality.

* That is unless they had quintuplets or something and they are all at newborn/infant stage. Then all bets are off.

Dairy union sucks. Rarely will an employer pay above union scale so Foremans get a mix of good workers and morons and the union protects the morons

Not even close.

There are children out there working 12-15 hour shifts (among many thousands of examples) and you have the nerve to make ignorant and inane claims like that....

Paying above award is always a company choice if it thinks it's worth it.

Doing what you love? Thousands would trade with them in an instance! Try cleaning shit, work in a factory in Asia or something like that...

they love what they do which already makes it better than 99% of other peoples jobs....

I can imagine working at a gold mine in Sierra Leone for 14 hours a day / 20 dollars a week might get a little tougher at times

Which no big company does when dealing with union.

Is that what they told you?

They don't grant everyone above award, just ones the want to keep.

Unions can keep morons employed, but they don't rstrict wages.

no I would say porn stars. Imagine someone ramming pipe up your bum hole all day long

but for real hockey players w/o a doubt
