HEAT is transcendant, a perfect film. Even if it were the only movie he ever made, he gets carte blanche legend status just for that one.
The fact is though yeah, he happens to have a career's worth of other interesting projects full of success & failure, on either side of his 1995 peak magnum opus.
Personally I go COLLATERAL and THIEF for my top 3, & I agree, most of his modern digital stuff is a chore.
I am not going out to the theater to see FERRARI, only because I have a fairly strict 'put as little Adam Driver in my brain as possible' policy. Hollywood just kinda decided he was the guy to put in every other movie some years ago, & I never signed off on that shit, nor was I consulted.
