Get Out - 9/10

Finally got around to watching it, and was not disappointed. I was impressed the most with how well the suspense worked, and especially with how the humor added to it. The film easily could have drifted off into full-blown parody territory, but never did thanks to the acting from everyone involved. From Daniel Kaluuya all the way on down, there wasn't a weak link to be had.

The only thing keeping it from a perfect score for me was the third act. It was still engaging, though it did feel a little rushed; like the movie knew it had to get the violent parts out of the way, and proceeded to handle it in a "by the numbers" sort of way. The actual ending more than made up for it, though.

For a rated thread, i dont understand how this movie gets as rated as it does. Epitome of overrated and shouldve included it in the other thread.

Its a good movie but 6.5.

I refused to see any FF films, so I'm legit curious what it is about the franchise fans are nostalgic for. I remember my mates showing fight scenes from one of them (statham and vin diesel fighting on a crumbling park garage roof...) and the whole thing looked like tv-movie cheese

The first few were more about racing and had some shady stuff going on behind the scenes (such as crime drama, etc). But now they've gone full blown Looney Tunes with the whole thing. No one has any flaws. Each character is invincible. The stories are progressively more and more outlandish and retarded. Basically the series went from semi-realistic action/drama to total scifi superhero nonsense. Let me say it like this.... the first one was about street racing and stealing DVD players. This last one was about saving the world from nuclear Armageddon. How do you go from street racing in LA to literally saving the world, over and over again?! The series started at Point Break and is now at The Avengers.

I want the series to go back to how it was in the beginning, when it was simpler and actually about street racing. The cop drama behind the scenes was cool and fun. But how it is now, it's just totally outrageous nonsense. It's not even about racing anymore.

Escape from New York-

Really fun movie. I always enjoy Kurt Russell and Donald Pleasence, plus Mermaid Man is in there too as Cabbie. Fun cast, fun movie. Classic John Carpenter.

7/10

Should definitely watch Escape from LA next bro. Don't let the bad reviews put you off, that shit is gold

Jane Austen's Mafia!

7/10 just for the laughs. I haven't seen this in over a decade and saw it was on HBO GO. Quirks, one liners, slapstick and parody all mixed together hilariously. I still get "The Naked Gun" vibe from this movie, which means it still holds up.

Really, there is nothing serious about this movie and it plays on the Italian gimmick perfectly. The movie starts off with a child doing HEAVY physical comedy, something that actually takes a lot of work to do well, and he pulls it off without a hitch! And it's hilarious. Not to mention he grows up to be Lloyd Bridges who is hilarious on his own.

The story is meh, but really movies like this get an exception on story, because the entertainment level, for me, was so high.

I know this movies is polarizing and if you don't like it, you hate it, but I believe this movie does it's Airplane-like genre service.

Unbreakable 8/10

After watching Split I decided to check out Unbreakable and was glad I did. Great comic book meets real world movie where the superpowers are more subdued. It did seem like it never got out of 3rd gear or so, but overall a good watch

Amazing movie. That Indian guys. best directed movie.

The Fate of the Furious: 3/10

Damn, they're really scrapping the bottom of the barrel with this franchise. This film was shit. Not quite the worst of the franchise, but bottom three for sure. How did we go from something that started out awesome and relatively realistic to this trash? I just want it to be about street racing again. Not this Looney Tunes bullshit. It seems like everything they do and talk about is ground already covered. Ugh, at least it's not Marvel-bad. Or rather, this one wasn't. But almost.

That franchise should've ended after 5.

Dances With Wolves 9.5/10

I havent seen this in probably 20 years. I had been reluctant to because it is so long. But man it is just awesome. I have a particular love of the American West and native american culture, so that makes it even better for me. Great stuff all around and it still holds up well after all these years

also, credit to mary mcdonnell who manages to look smokin even though she is disheveled in the entire movie. my younger self didnt appreciate it because she was older, but since she was about my age now in that film, i appreciate it. women of that age usually have a hard time looking good, especially without a lot of makeup

As a kid I used to jerk off to the sex scene in that movie. Then I discovered porn.

Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk - 6/10

Steve Martin was terrible in this role. His Texas accent was so badly done.

Mommy Dead And Dearest (2017) - 8/10

An absolutely crazy fucking documentary, it's basically like watching an extremely disturbing horror/thriller movie unfold in real life. I had never heard anything about the story before watching the doc so it really caught me off guard. Never been so creeped out by a documentary before, felt really uneasy while watching this.

Rush (1991). 7/10

Starring Jennifer Jason Leigh, Jason Patric. Watched ages ago. Decided to re-watch it the other night. Good acting, great plot. Young JJL. Solid watching.

Lalaland - 8/10

The music was good, well made film. Started off kinda cheesy and dorky, but got better as it went.

American Pastoral - 7/10

All around excellent performances except for Dakota Fanning. Her acting skills are deteriorating.

Out Cold (1989) starring Teri Garr and John Lithgow. 5/10 Just not very good. It's a dark comedy. I guess it's worth watching once if you like the actors.

Sunny is married to the butcher Ernie; their marriage is about to end as both of them have affairs. Thus Sunny hires Lester Atlas as private investigator in order to collect proofs for the divorce. One evening drunken Ernie and his partner Dave have a fight in the butchery with the result of Ernie getting knocked out in the fridge where he dies during the night. But it was not Dave's fault but intentional murder by Sunny. Only Lester has proofs so Sunny kills him, too. Thus she only has to kill Dave to get rid of all witnesses, but he can free himself out of the fridge and wants to take revenge...

oh yeah.. a Belgium/France movie

La Promesse (1996) I give it a 7. Sarted well but stalled. I honestly just kind of wished it would end or have more happen the last hour.

Igor--a 15-year-old apprentice mechanic--spends his off hours at the beck and call of his father. Igor's father, Roger, is a low-life involved with smuggling undocumented immigrants into Belgium, and acts as their slumlord, housing them in barely livable conditions, and paying them menial wages to work construction on his building (among other scams). When the building inspector pays a surprise visit and Amidou falls off a scaffold in his hurry to hide, things start to unravel, particularly when Igor makes a promise to the injured Amidou that ultimately exposes the different values of Igor and Roger, and of Amidou's wife, Assita.

Logan (2017) - 6/10

Very mediocre and predictable for the most part, but the gore/action was pretty cool so they managed to hold my attention with that.

king Arthur, 9/10. Best visuals I seen so far in a movie, great soundtrack, nice style to storytelling. The only thing lacking for me was the backstory of Uther's brother turning to evil.
