Dad-bod is the ultimate physique for UFC HW fighter

Farmer strength, one of my favorite metaphors and true as hell. My grandpa has done farmer work all his life since he was 7 years old. He doesnt have a chiseled sixpack or huge biceps but his midsection is uniform thick from top to bottom and he can carry 50kg canisters that dont let you even grip them well like nothing, all day.

Basically not low bodyfat and strong core muscles rather than just biceps.

If you look at Strong man competitors, they don't have flat abs because of all the core muscle they carry, so there could be there's some truth in that to HWs

FOR UNLIMITED WIEGHT ..........ABSOLUTELY. Look at Olympic Powerlifters.............:LEAN Until HEAVY or maybe Super Heavy Which ever has NO WEIGHT LIMIT... THEY ALL HAVE SOME FAT... imo Some Fat is healthier/stronger and an advantage......... IF Not fighitng lb for lb.....

Indeed, its the difference between just fat and fat over muscle. A lot of the MMA fanbase though equate muscle with very low bodyfat ala WWE beach muscles which obviously isn't the case at HW where a lot of fighter don't need to worry about weight limits.

fedor-returns-nog.jpg
At that time FEDOR was just a much superior fighter......... fat or not

Although Fedor did definitely lose muscle mass over the years after he left Russian Top Team and in the end this was a factor in his loses.

If You mean a BIG CUSHION OF FAT HELPS PROTECT FROM A BODY BLOW?? duhhhhhhhhhhh

And having More Weight helps to hit harder?? duhhhhhhh

BUT FOR FIGHTING LEAN IS BEST AS ITS POUND FOR POUND FIGHTING... THERE IS MORE STRENGTH TO WIN THE FIGHT AND ENDURANCE TO STAY IN THE FIGHT BY WEIGHT...........

And.......there is too lean to the point of being Fragile...

Balance Dude...The Sweet Spot... and ITS NOT BEING A FATTY
The best HW's of all time are dad-bods.

And got armbarred

Ok, Hammer House teammate, "The Hammer" (Built like a Met-Rx competitor) almost beat Fedor with a rear naked in the corner.

&

Sliced and diced Kazuyuki Fujita had Fedor doing the chicken dance.

There is also the fact that the more muscle you have, the faster you will burn oxygen.

Almost does not count.

Dad-bod doesn't equal fat. Fedor wasn't fat. He sure as hell had plenty of muscle on his frame, he was built like a guy who has done hard physical labor his whole life. What we often refer to as farmer strength.

He wasn't fat agreed but he did have a rather high body fat % for a pro fighter.

Like Cain does

Maybe some truth to this.

This was post diverticulitis Brawk. His guts were a sewn together mess by that point and clearly exceptionally vulnerable. Seriously, Brocks insides were much like Tra Telligman's chest. In this case, Brock can't be used as proof of anything due to illness being a dominating circumstance.

Cormier and Black Beast are two fighters that dosen't react well do bodyshots despite dad body.

It's because a few extra pounds of fat benefits anyone in a fight with no weight limits. It makes you hit harder, take punches better and grapple better. Beyond chubby it's a detriment.

So I agree "Dad Bod" is the best fighting shape for anyone if there are no weight classes. If by "Dad Bod" you mean like Prime Fedor. No abs showing love handles but still looking strong and in shape.

THIS
It's not about how much fat you carry, it's about what is underneath that fat - muscle! It doesn't have to be showing, it just has to be there.

Also, fighting at a COMFORTABLE weight makes it easier. Extreme cutting gets you nowhere - see Khabib as prime example.
