Cris Cyborg vs. Yana Kunitskaya Targeted For UFC 222 w/ Edgar vs. Ortega as Co-Main

White knighting?

If the UFC can't cajole actual 145ers to fight her, what's she supposed to do?
Steamroll Nunes and de-legitimize the BW belt just cuz?

I get why Nunes wants the fight. Hell, if she could pull it off it would be huge, but it's not like Nunes is super active or a super dominant champ. This fight would be better served after Cyborg and Nunes defend a few more times.

None of it really matters though, Cyborg will get shit on regardless, as is tradition (Cybro, Cyroid etc...) meanwhile we're all getting hyped to watch what Romero can do fresh off suspension.
Holy crap that's some high level mental gymnastics there.

It's totally cool for Cris to fight a mediocre 135er rather than "de-legitimize" the BW belt by "steamrolling" Nunes?

Wow, Cyborg is so selfless! What a company woman! Beating up on a BW can rather than take on the champ to preserve the legitamacy of the belt! So honorable.

Nunes is still a BW. Either way Cyborg is beating up a "BW".

She can't win. People bitch when she fights "no name" FW's and they bitch when she fights BW's moving up.

So when everyone said Rousey was ducking her it was OK to hang from Justino's sack about Rousey not wanting to challenge herself, but Nunes stepping up to do the thing that the majority of Sherdog wanted Rousey to do, NOW that de-legitimizes the belt? OK...

If there arent actual 145 fighters willing to fight (or seem to exist in the UFC actually), maybe that means the division shouldnt have been made in the first place and Cyborg should have fucked off to Bellator or something by now?

Nah, we'll have her fight another bloated 135 but this time she doesnt have to struggle through the weight cut so we dont have to see her cry, fail a drug test, get a BS retro TUE for it and take 6 months off to recover while telling the UFC she cant fight less than 3months from signing a contract, ever.

Great division UFC, well done!

Wow.

So as it pertains to Rousey, the major difference being when people were clamoring for that fight, it was due to Rousey being on a 6-0 UFC run, but Cyborg wasn't a part of the UFC then, it was simply a fight people wanted to see cause there didn't appear to be anyone worthy at the time, also Rousey used to fight at 145, same with most of the other 135ers, but for some reason as it pertains to Cyborg, they all suddenly become bloated and fat.

Just like when she fought Holm it was "oh, Holm is really up against it going up to fight this monster" when the reality is Holm's a fucking She-hulk as well, but because Cyborg pissed hot for a Diuretic she's this fucking unforgivable cheater, that narrative was created by Dana and Co. to dismiss Cyborg and protect Rousey and people have been eating it up ever since.

My original point still stands. Why not have Nunes and Cyborg defend their titles, Nunes has only defended twice, she isn't terribly active, and the two biggest draws in the division are gone now, so why have Cyborg destroy what's left of it?

Mental gymnastics?

Cyborg so selfless? Dude i just suggested that maybe they should build Nunes up a little first, same as Cyborg and not have them scrap because they both happen to have belts that neither has defended a ton.

If they can't set anything else up, then sure. Have them fight, even if that means Cyborg has to fight poor little tiny Nunes who probably has to eat a ton to get up to 135 because it's not like she started her career off at 145, like nearly every other female fighter going. But hey, we all gotta use that BJ Penn metric where fighter A gets to claim whatever division they can starve themselves down to.

Even better mental gymnastics! All 135ers are "starving themselves" to avoid Cyborg, right! Remind me the last time a female 135er missed weight. You'd think it'd be fairly common if they were all "starving themselves".

Cyborg turned down a fight with Amanda Nunes to accept a fight with Yana freaking Kunitskaya. If you are somehow twisting that into a good, reasonable move for Cyborg, you are A: Whiteknighting, and B: Using mental gymnastics. It's a bullshit matchup, and a blatant duck of Nunes.

Jesus christ, really???

Cris did, in fact test positive for stanozolol. AN ANABOLIC STEROID!!!

Later she tested positive for spironolactone, which yes is a diuretic, but also a known masking agent for ANABOLIC STEROIDS!!!

So yes, you are whiteknighting like crazy, because you choose to ignore facts.

You're right. That's also right about the time you could have watched Fedor fight Jeff Monson.
Definitely sounds personal Dude.

Like i said before. There's a hell of a lot more guys getting caught with gear than Cyborg but the ol'neckbeard insecurity always comes crawling out when it comes to her.

And you still haven't addressed the crux of the issue which is that Nunes isn't in a position and nor is Cyborg at the moment for the UFC to blow it's wad on a WMMA "superfight".
It's not about protecting fighters or whiteknighting, it's about creating interest in fights.
