Gets a $1 million show purse on his new contract and doesn’t seem to want to fight anyone. Makes sense.

Far bigger companies than the UFC look to ruin way smaller competition all the time. This is just basic business haha.

He never got $1M in the first place, I know he said he did but Costa is a natural troll. Not like UFC would publicly correct him so might as well bluff a bit.
 
This card is gonna fall apart, I wouldn't be surprised if a few more of the other bouts on this there aren't officially signed off on yet either.

You shouldn't announce a bout as official if all that's been done is a verbal agreement.

I could imagine some Boomer executive at Endeavor saw Costas Twitter metrics and he angled that into $1 mil show + win.

Cant wait for Dana to tell us what really happened....Costa was too scared to fight!

They have Jon Jones who's 2-3 times the draw Ngannou is. Not to mention the TUF Conor season is about to drop. Thinking announcing a Costa fight early is all part of some big plan to sabottage Ngannou news is stupid.

Ngannou isn't even fighting until 2024

Bro, nobody cares about a guy that's gonna be 37 hasnt fought in over a year and by the time he is supposedly going to fight will be 2 1/2 years after major knee surgery.

A guy that has fought 3 times in a half a decade by the time he fight his next mma fight provided he actually fights mid 2024

Lol. The UFC have teams for this sort of thing. Why would they wait for their competition to gain momentum before jumping on a chance to downplay them? That's just dumb.

They did it this time and if they think they can take away shine from Frank and PFL closer to the fight and on the day of it, they absolutely will. Why wouldn't they?

Yeh, Jon probably is a bigger draw. No disagreement there. That would mean Jon is a bigger draw than anyone any other org has, right? That doesn't mean the UFC is going to just ignore what every other org is doing lol.

For the longest time the Dana wouldn't even mention Bellator. He'd just refer to it as "that other org" or some such. Even the commentary until recently was clearly told not to name them. The only time they use it now is when Chandler is fighting because a) he doesn't really have any other achievements anywhere, and b) whenever he loses it's a little reminder of the UFC's superiority over Bellator.

And it's not just the Costa announcement. It's all of them that they did.

It's a dirty little tactic, but totally normal.

People have a shit when Jon jones, GSP, Nick Diaz and even Anthony Johnson came back after longer breaks. At various ages and levels of health. There's a thread about Ngannou nearly everyday on his next move or even in response to an article about his next move. To say no one cares is just disingenuous
