Yikes, the linked RT article is a full-blown fluffing of Gabbard.

Anyways, your characterization of the NYT article is false. Or, perhaps more accurately, outright lying. The article is correctly describing rebel groups as rebels, not Al-Qaeda. And it is not praising Al-Qaeda: it's correctly stating, as a matter of fact, that an alleged Al-Qaeda affiliate (HTS) has been acting as a conduit for aid delivery.

BAGHDAD — On land, Syria’s government is mustering thousands of conscripts to bolster its depleted forces. At sea, a Russian naval flotilla is just offshore, ready to intervene with formidable firepower. In Idlib Province, millions of civilians are dreading what comes next.

The warring sides in Syria’s long and merciless civil war are preparing for another brutal offensive, and this one may be the last.

The looming assault on Idlib Province is the one the government in Damascus hopes will deliver the final military blow against the rebel fighters and their civilian supporters who rose up more than seven years ago demanding regime change.

Where Syria and its Russian and Iranian allies see a chance to crush the remaining opposition, Western leaders warn of a humanitarian calamity in Idlib, where an estimated three million civilians live.

And defeating the rebel forces in Idlib is likely to exact a devastating toll on civilians, who have endured the brunt of the suffering since Syria’s conflict erupted in 2011. More than 350,000 people have been killed, and more than 11 million have fled their homes.

The State Department on Friday also warned in a statement that “the United States will respond to any chemical weapons attack perpetrated by the Syrian regime.”

Despite these international pleas, Syrian and Russian officials over the weekend were openly preparing to oust the formidable rebel forces still active in the province.

Syria’s deputy prime minister, Walid Moallem, said in an interview with Russian television on Saturday that capturing Idlib was a priority, given the widespread presence of “terrorists” there, a reference to the Islamist fighting groups, including Syria’s strongest rebel faction, Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, or H.T.S., which is affiliated with Al Qaeda.

H.T.S. has controlled much of Idlib since 2015, acting as de facto governmental authority, facilitating trade across the long border with Turkey and organizing aid deliveries.

Mesmerizing spin.

Thanks, great to know that there is no double standard on terrorists. <{clintugh}>

And what about al-nusra that is AQ affiliated?

Are they not a large chunk of the "rebels" in Ildib?

9/11 material in regards to S.A still being classified should tell you all you need to know. If the war on terror was anything but a joke, S.A would have been first to get a dose of freedom.

Americans are perfectly happy with Saudis bombing Houthis in Yemen while Al-Qaeda holds several towns under their control. In fact, weapons supplied by Americans to "moderate" Syrian rebels had a funny way of ending up in the hands of jihadist groups.

"7% of moderate rebels are extremist"...can't even meet the leader of the rebels without being swarmed by AlQaeda/ISIS operatives.

Is not alquaida , they changed the name of the local brand in freedom something and is right to help them.
for istance if John Wayne Gacy would change his name in "John William Coase" ,he become a totally different person and it accetable to fund him and donate clown outfits, knifes and handcuffs
If Ted Bundy change his name in "Bud Terry" he became a different person , free of charges and it is right to made him the new principal of a female collage .
Same logic.

God Emporer Trump will be stopping this madness any day now. As long as those pesky Democrats don't obstruct with their pathetic minority positions in both houses.

This is why I am not bouncing on Mattis’s lap like most of the WR. Where was he when Trump was talking of withdrawal out of Syria(a good thing)

I just can’t understand where the benefit is of us being involved. And it’s shameful that the media acted as if Trump was insane for wanting out of Syria. In fact, the only positive press he’s ever received was when we lobbed missles into Syria

In a rare and unprecedented speech delivered on the House floor just two days after the nation memorialized 9/11, Democratic Hawaiian Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard on Thursday slammed Washington's longtime support to anti-Assad jihadists in Syria, while also sounding the alarm over the current build-up of tensions between the US and Russia over the Syria crisis.

She called on Congress to condemn what she called the Trump Administration’s protection of al-Qaeda in Idlib and slammed Washington's policies in Syria as "a betrayal of the American people" especially the victims and families that perished on 9/11.

Considering that Congresswoman Gabbard herself is an Iraq war veteran and current Army reserve officer who served in the aftermath of 9/11, it's all the more power and rare that a sitting Congress member would make such forceful comments exposing the hypocrisy and contradictions of US policy....

i listened to gabbard on joe rogan the other day. that's the only info that i have on her, but she seemed awesome.
