Mmmm... this is a combo of few things, somethings Hermannsons did right, but I bet he’s just the type of guy who’s not very prone to get choked with an arm in.
Leites is an armtriangle specialist, if he couldn’t do it, most likely it’s a hell of a job to anyone to put Hermannsons to sleep

Funny enough though, Cezar Ferreira defeated Hermansson by arm triangle.

Maybe that motivated him to train his arm triangle defence until he became unsubmittable.
