Better all time career BJ Penn or Donald Cerrone?

He beat 2 of the last 3 former LW champions and BJ is on an embarrassing 5-6 fight losing streak.

A shot Bendo who'd already beaten him twice when he used to be good and Alvarez on points in a 3 rounder I assume are the ones you mean so 2 of the last 5 or 2 of the last 4 former is you want to use that way but only one of them was any good at the time.

Cerrones defeats show you he was never top tier, 2 of the last 4 LW title holders stopped him with kicks to the body ffs.

At least Cerrone could beat Dennis fucking Siver.

LOL Cerrone isn't 38 and been through the grinder like BJ. And at least BJ actually rose to the occasion when needed, Cerrone has choked in EVERY big fight since WEC.

Career comparisons can get hard. Cerrone is a great fighter. At his time BJ was one of a handful of fighters no one thought could lose. Right now there are fighters you can't imagine losing, BJ was one of them at one time, regardless of if Denis Siver just beat him. He barely lost at HW to Machida when he physically couldn't make it past MW. This was when Machida was about to become LHW champion. BJ may have fewer total "quality wins", still his first GSP fight was one of the greatest in UF.. mma history. BJ added to this aura with mythical Tdd, and that jump squat out of the pool. He was a guy Rogan aptly dubbed a "true mixed martial artist",.... take the fight where you want. try what you want, and you'll lose. Still Cerrone has his place too.

BJ had a better career overall.

but BJ at his best vs Cerrone at his best.

id pick Cowboy at 155 every time.

People forget that BJ looks his best against Florian, Stevenson, Sanchez and frankly none of them would sniff the top10 nowadays at there best.

I bet Cerrone would trade every one of his wins for one title

Being a champion doesn't mean much in the UFC unless your consistently defending. It's musical chairs with the belts. I think guys who are consistently beating top 5 guys with respectable guys are better than fucking BJ Penn whose getting his ass whooped half of the time.

BJ is old as fuck. He would destroy Siver when he was younger. He just doesn't have it anymore.
Here comes the excuses for the could've been bj.. if he was in shape ... if he was motivated... bj penn prime... bj without Ebola would've... etc.. truth is bj penn had a nice little run but never evolved with mma .. he just wasn't as good as people wish he would be

only ones saying BJ are blind nuthuggers, Cerrone has the more impressive resume by faaaaaar

He wouldve had a hell of a championship reign if he faced BJ's competition too. Having a belt doesnt automatically make you the better fighter

Exactly, and his wins list already dwarfs BJ's and I don't even think he's 35 yet. Yes he chokes in title fights but BJ was losing fights even when he was in his prime.

Cerrone has more names but Penn has history of being a two weight champ. Cerrone hasn't held a title.
