Anybody else not care about gsp?

If you're not excited to see GSP come back, then you're a fucking dicksucking pos.

Something about the circus that is MW takes away from my enthusiasm slightly, but if we get closer to GSP actually returning, I'll be pumped.

Please explain.
He probaby means GSP is coming after Bisping because it's an easy money fight, he saw an easy opportunity and he's taking it. If it was Lawler/Twood or Chris/Luke holding the belts he would have stayed away from MMA. He isn't coming for the long haul just a quick 1 or 2 easy paydays and off again he goes. I would have loved to see him vs T wood to see how he matches up with the WW's of today.

GSP is never off the front page of Sherdog

I'm happy for Mike that he's getting the fight, but as far as excitement to actually watch the fight, meh, i'm interested to see what happens, but not excited.

If you were ever a fan of GSP then why not be interested. I still watch BJ fight even if he is too old to be competitive, because I'm a fan. Of course i dont want to see him fight and get out classed anymore but have some loyalty shit. Fair-weather fans can kiss deez nuts.

That's great. I'm sure he can explain himself.

GSP certainly has never been one who can be classified as "all talk"....And I don't see how coming back to go up in weight and fight the champion could be considered a "easy money fight"....It simply makes no sense. I'd also consider waiting to pass judgement on "who" he's going to fight until you actually see "who" he's going to fight.

Nah I don't, I like George's he's a top guy and seems nice enough but in 2017 I'm good
Plus I welcome our new overlord Woodley

I guess we will see how done he is, and if his career did in fact years ago...It's very true he has nothing left to prove for obvious reasons.

But lets address a few things here. His style was being just about the most well rounded fighter we've ever seen. I don't think I don't need to point out the obvious in that if there is one style that ages well? It's that one.

You don't think anyone believes he really has what it takes to become champ anymore? Ummmmmmm. The vast majority believe he's going to be the next MW champ. I will also say that if he's close to as good as he once was? He's more than likely going to beat Tyron....

So I'm having lots of trouble following your logic.

The truth is none of us know how good he's going to be. However there is a very real chance not only is he every bit as good as he once was, he could possibly be better than he was when he left....

GSP was already noticeably slower and took far more shots in his last few fights than he did his entire career.

Also, GSP being "well rounded" is not what I was referring to when I said his style doesn't hold up to age.

As a striker GSP relied on his explosive athleticism to dart in and out to hit without taking damage. He was not a striker who could stay relaxed in the pocket and trade. Other strikers like Roy Jones and Pernell Whitaker had a similar dropoff when they lost the speed and athleticism to do what they once did. As any real fight fan can tell you, speed and explosiveness are the first things to go as a fighter.

Likewise, his elite wrestling was absolutely dependent on explosive double legs. He was not a chain wrestler like Cormier or a tenacious clinch worker like Couture who could utilize their skills long into their careers. Given he was already noticeably slower against fighters like Shields and Hendricks I find it extremely unlikely he somehow regained his explosiveness to the level that he can be a champ in 2017.

And speaking of Hendricks he was essentially the poor man's Tyron, a wrestler/power puncher who used his grappling ability to avoid the ground. Given how much GSP struggled with Hendricks years ago I don't see how anyone can favor him against the younger, stronger, faster, more explosive Tyron.

I guess he will have the chance to make me eat my words and I will be glad if he does. But this looks like a money grab to me, not a desire to become the best in the world again.

GSP-Bisping is a joke. Yes, it will sell big, but it hurts the legitimacy of sport when Dana does whatever he can to make more money for owners. If Dana was the NFL commissioner, the cowboys would be in the Superbowl every year no matter what.

The flip side, of course, is that the UFC goes bankrupt. But even if that nightmarr happened, there is always bellator. The sport is more mainstream than ever now.

As soon as he got off the cage, he stayed on his back till the bell rang.

Joe Rogan: "That's embarrassing."

Exactly....Which is why you should probably consider the idea that after taking all this time off to heal up, and reset, and get healthy again could very well have him coming back and looking better than he did in his last few fights....

He might beat Bisping.
That doesn't make him a legit MW champ.
He never fought at MW and hasn't fought period in a few years.
And we know damn well he won't defend the belt against any other Top 10 guy.

This is only on the table because of Bisping's punch on Luke.

I am excited to see GSP return, but why does it have to be Bisping?

Answer = easy first fight back

It really doesn't work like that in combat sports. I don't ever recall a fighter taking 4-5 years off in their mid 30's and coming back faster and better than before. Especially one who was so dependent on his speed and explosiveness to make his style work.

If RJJ took 4 years off after almost losing to Tarver the first time I doubt he would've somehow came back in prime form and avoided the way his career ended.

GSP did something very few champs in any combat sport could ever do. He walked away on top without any unavenged losses and not a TON of damage. I would hate to see him in a string of disappointing KO losses where he looks like a shell of his former self, like Liddell, and Wand, and Anderson, and Fedor, and Nog, and pretty much any other fighter in history.

I know....How could beating the MW possibly make you the legit MW champ?

Because the MW champ isn't a legit MW champ...
Ignoring contenders and fighting non-Top 10 Hendo, saying he's injured until the coast is clear to face GSP....

I know you are a big fan of the snuggles 10-9 round win, but try to be reasonable.
