Slice of Life is weird in that it's hard to place the style other than it's sitcom like. Case in point, Yotsubato and Nichijou are classified as seinen I believe.

I have this friend of mine who also reads One Piece who has an on going theory that Raftel is actually a space ship and that all the races in the One Piece world(except for the Fishmen) came from outer space and that the Celestial Dragons proclaimed themselves rulers and that the series will end with them being returned to their own planet. This is just the Cliff Notes version of his whole thing which he regaled to me quite a few months ago(6+ or so) and just thought of it again after this post from him regarding some other topics involving the One Piece world.

This week it was revealed Anger is the Opposite of Despair according to Pair, I think he will be partially right, I think Toriko's Anger will hold off Neo's Despair , but I think Komatsu's Hope will provide the type of healing and peace needed to stop a creature like Neo.

True, but goddamn is the rest of his stuff crap. Like I'm a nice guy so I jst tell him I respectfully disagree and I REALLY hope it doesn't go that direction since it would a HUGE shark jump and would feel like a total cop out as to why the Celestial Dragons are so fucking terrible.

I prefer to Celestial Dragons as horrible royals that I press citizens and thst have knowledge of the missing history, but not all the Royal Families are bad eggs and some branched off to be fair and just.

That's kind of my point about the cop out. Like saying that they're horrible because they're aliens feel like a cop out over the simple fact that they're just straight up fucking terrible people. The outer space stuff is 50/50 for me given that we HAVE seen Enel make it to the moon and he's found some ancient ruins of some sort.

Talk to my About Toriko You Bastards

This week it was revealed Anger is the Opposite of Despair according to Pair, I think he will be partially right, I think Toriko's Anger will hold off Neo's Despair , but I think Komatsu's Hope will provide the type of healing and peace needed to stop a creature like Neo.

Komatsu will gather his all mighty plot powers and envelop Toriko with them. It really feels like Toriko is close to ending. Don't see how Neo/Acacia can be topped.

I say overall the first part of the series was better. 2nd half feels rushed bit still good overall. Anime was horrendous though.

i loved toriko until the cap lvl exceeded the 99 limit.

loved reading the lore about the different foods too.

My personal favorite is the Gourmet Casino arc. Livebearer was a great villian and Coco's smarts were on point. No epic battle at the end but engaging writing to keep us on our toes. The Toriko world feels so vast and you could get lost in panels when new places were introduced.

The mellow cola arc was also good. Funny how the Salamander Sphinx gave Toriko and Zebra so much trouble even though it was only a capture level of 92.

Ice Hell, four beast, cooking festival, melk arcs...I got to re-read them!

yeah that's what i liked about toriko too! the world-building was incredible.

p.s the best arc for me was the cola arc. and when zeebra first came out of that hive prison

I still like Toriko now , still think it is an engaging story, however it has declined from the early arcs , I fell like part of that is due to the Mangaka being rushed but he is still doing a solid job keeping it interesting.

I liked the Jewel Meat and Ice Hell arcs also Zebra's intro in the Mellow cola arc was pretty good.

My top 5 favorite Toriko fights.

5. Salamander Sphinx vs Toriko and Zebra.

The heavenly kings take on the hard task of collecting the mellow cola. The only problem is that the Salamander Sphinx holds the key to the cola. Alone they stand no chance but as a combo they are up for the task.

4.Midora vs Ichiryu

A battle of two titans. The winner takes all. The changing point of the manga. Both geared to counter each other but Midora has grown powerful over the years. Ichiryu will not go down without giving his brother hell.

3. Toriko vs Starjun

A battle we were anticipating since their first encounter when Star was handicapped by the gt robo. Toriko is furious and Starjun looks forward to the challenge.

2. Coco vs Livebearer

A fight with wits rather than brawn. Livebearer and Coco engage in a deadly game of cards. Livebearer holds every advantage and isn't above cheating. Coco remains cool and knows something Livebearer doesn't.

1. Toriko vs Tommyrod

You know it was coming. These two throw down in an old fashion brawl. Body parts go flying and blood spills everywhere. Nothing better then watching two guys slugging it out with everything they got.
