No. Stevenson is going to fight Seanie Monaghan instead on April 29 on Long Island.

Fight is Ward is might be not happen, because Andre must give a rematch to Kovalev first...
Adonis is 39 (if i not remember) and has contract with Showtime, Ward has on contract with HBO - because of that the conversation could be long but carrer of Stevenson could be over very soon (because of his ages)... It's first obstacle...
The second one - is less obvious - that fight with Ward isnt guaranteed the much more money in compare with anything middling-hand opponent, but a way more risky (i think his chance against Andre is illusive).
 
joe smiths team asked to be paid more than stevenson because of the b-hop win. asking for way too much money is a smarter way to avoid a fight. floyd style.
it should be joe smith vs seany.. stevenson should come back in may or june and just fight alvarez already. he's won what seems like 5 wbc elimators. even if people think alavarez is bad he is rated high in most bodies and knocking out bute in quebec city makes him known to have a fight in quebec.

Its the fight Ward should be pushing for. Its the only big fight he can make now and its one he could win. I wonder why Ward isnt chading it. I bet he is waiting for Superman to call him out, Ward always feels like he is the one people should chasing him and hopefully Superman calls him out after this win amd that Ward steps up to the challage and give us the fight people really want to see.

But i get it and Ward has nothing left to prove. He is the best and proved that already. It just I great fight that people are begging for and I hope gets made.
 
Is this fight still on the new Nassau Coliseum?

Imagine how big of a fight in Long Island it would be if Seanie Monaghan beats Adonis and then fights Joe Smith Jr

Even if that has been the case since 2013 when he got the belt (which it's not), he is clearly in the running for being the most sheltered champion in recent memory of the sport.

None of that means he should randomly get stripped of his belt.
 
I think its time to strip Stevenson of his championship status. Make it vacant and have the top 4 guys willing to fight each other earn that belt.

Gary Russell Jr won the belt 2 years ago. Defended it once against a bum.

BJ Saunders won the belt 2 years ago. Defended it once against a bum.



At least Adonis fought guys like Bellew and Fonfara
 
Seanie Monaghan is the absolute definition of a club fighter. Not even top twenty. No wonder this chickenshit wants to fight him.

Yeah, it's always the other guy, isn't it? Never mind the fact that all the other guys he's failed to fight in the last three years have been able to negotiate with one another while he's sat back and fought unranked opposition.
 
Whether he's a chicken or not.... Adonis is a fun and exciting guy to watch in the ring.
And he's been pissing his importance away by fighting Tommy Karpency, well passed it Bika, Dmitry Suksomethin'another.
